2005 Jaguar X-TYPE Trims and Specs

The 2.5L sedan would discontinued after 2005, and all future X-Types would house the 2.0 liter V-6. The 2.5 liter unit provides 191 horsepower, which is enough to get the mid-size sedan from 0 to 60 mph in under eight seconds. A five-five manual transmission is standard here, but the five-speed automatic is optional.

This entry-level Jaguar is fairly well-equipped for its comparatively low sticker price. Standard features include leather upholstery, wood trim, steering wheel audio controls, automatic climate control, keyless entry, an Alpine audio system and heated power mirrors. Options include a navigation system, a moon roof, and the Sport enhancement package.

This sedan is now one of two X-Type models to house the 3.0 liter V-6, with the other being the new Sportwagon. The larger V-6 generates 227 horsepower and 209 pound-feet of torque, for a 0 to 60 mph time of 7.1 seconds. The five-speed automatic transmission is standard with this model, but the manual is available as a no cost option.

Additional standard features here include electro-chromatic mirrors, a power front passenger seat, and the larger engine. Some previous features like the moon roof are now packaged into pricey option groups.

Jaguar has attempted to tap a new market with this AWD wagon. The Sportwagon will use the 3.0 liter V-6, which makes 227 horsepower. This model is the heaviest of all the X-Types, at 3747 pounds. Consequently, the 0 to 60 time is 8.5 seconds and fuel economy is estimated at 18/24 mpg with the automatic transmission. The Sportwagon is also available with a manual transmission.

This model receives all the equipment found on the two lower priced models, like leather seats, wood trim, keyless entry, a power driver's seat, steering wheel audio controls and automatic climate control. Exclusive Sportwagon features include a roof rack, a brush guard, 17-inch wheels, a moon roof and folding center seats.
