The 2005 Hummer H2 Base is unchanged this year, an all-wheel drive all-terrain SUV that's as much off-roader as it is a status symbol. Just ask Arnold. Powered by a 6.0-liter, 325-hp V8 with 365 lb-ft of torque, the 2005 H2 Base comes with a 4-speed automatic and is well equipped for maximum passenger comfort. Seating four or five in two rows, the rear seats fold down to expand the cargo area from 40 to 87 cubic feet, and the high-riding behemoth can tow up to 6700 pounds. A roof rack is also standard. The full-time AWD comes with a locking rear differential, traction control, dual front airbags, and 4-wheel ABS brakes. A self-leveling suspension is available. Skid plates, automatic headlights, auto-dimming mirrors, foglights, and daytime running lights add extra security.
Inside, the 2005 H2 Base does not skimp on comfort and includes heated leather seats (both rows), power front seats, wheel-mounted cruise and audio controls, leather and alloy interior trim, a CD player, trip computer, and garage opener. OnStar is also included. All that doesn't leave much in the way of options, but you can add a sunroof, satellite radio and more leather (the Lux Package), CD changer, a third row of seats, and a towing package. Gas mileage is unrated, due to the size of the 2005 Hummer H2, but owners accept that it won't be high. Other complaints mention blind spots and lack of backup sensors. Otherwise, owners like the smooth, solid, and safe ride, and the off-road performance.
