The term "rugged luxury" best sums up the Hummer H2, which received a fairly extensive upgrade for 2008. You wouldn't know that by looking at the big SUV's exterior, though, where it received only minor makeovers, mostly in the grille and front fascia area. All the good stuff for 2008 takes place inside and under the hood of the H2, where it really counts.
Hummer's designers were going for comfort when they gave the H2's interior a revamp. Everything from the seats to the dashboard to the seat belts came under scrutiny, and were ultimately replaced with better gear. The new seats, for instance, feature leather piping and have what Hummer calls a chiseled appearance (we assume that's a good thing) for improved comfort. Front seat belts now mount to the B-pillar rather than to the seats themselves, a configuration that drew complaints from some drivers of earlier Hummers.
Other new interior features in the 2008 Hummer H2 include the six-gauge instrument panel, door trim panels, and center console, which houses the climate controls and a standard Bose sound system with XM satellite radio. Hummer also added a full third-row seat for two passengers, and a new rear-seat heating and cooling system, as well as a raft of new options such as premium sound systems and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system.
The upgrades extend to the engine bay, where Hummer dropped a new and (according to Hummer) more fuel-efficient 6.2-liter V8 engine that produces 393 horsepower, an increase of nearly 70 horsepower from the previous year. The engine links to a new Hydra-Matic six-speed automatic transmission. As a result of this upgraded powertrain, the Hummer H2's towing capacity has jumped from 6,500 pounds to 8,000 pounds.
There are also a number of new features under the Hummer H2's skin, including a new traction control system, a tire pressure monitoring system, an electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation technology, and a panic brake assist feature, which applies maximum pressure in an emergency situation to stop the vehicle safely.

This Hummer, obviously, is massive. Massive width, massive tires, massive hunger. You do get your bang for your buck however. I love the features on this luxury model that some of the other H2’s may not have. The front and rear heated seats, heated mirrors, tilt mirrors to park as well as backup camera. It’s a good value for those that want a project. I’ve owned a 2003 and a 2005 H2, service and repairs can be very expensive. I communicated with the dealer which was very nice and tried to make a deal. My wife and I drove to the dealership and had to park a block away and the truck didn’t look like what was pictured on the Ad. It needed a good soap and water washing . It was also being sold “as is” and “no dealer warranty”.Jul 29, 2024

I like unique things - this Limited Edition Ultra Marine H2 definitely fits that bill! I owned a 2007 H3X previously and love that so much I decided to trade up on this Ltd Ed Ultra Marine H2.
I've had very low maintenance issues, have always maintained my own oil changes and general upkeep on it. I prefer to know I have control over what's done to it and not have to worry about someone saying they do something to it but never do or don't do it well.
This is a Luxury vehicle, in every sense of the word. Fun and comfortable to drive, gorgeous presence too.
I am female - so I think that throws out the general stereotypical macho male-only car concept. Females like/drive/own H2's also, albeit not as many/much as males. In all my coast to coast travels, there's never a shortage of "The Look" when I exit this beauty! It's actually funny to see. There are some who are not shy and stop me to discuss the H2. This vehicle is the most comfortable thing to be in for miles and miles, you just melt into the seat and get lost in the comfort of the ride.
With the amount of used Hummers available on the market now, and the pricing so drastically reduced from their original $65,XXX+ price tags, it's worth picking one up. There are plenty of Hummer Off Road Groups (Stateside and Overseas) you can get hooked up with to enjoy the features this vehicle is capable of handling.
To those who complain and bash H2's and similar "Gas Guzzling Eco Unfriendly Monsters", I say "Get Over It"! I drive what I want to drive and am going to enjoy every darn stop I make at the gas stations along the way!

I loved the fact that it came with a 6.2L engine with 395hp and that's stock . Had a 2010 Camaro SS with a 6.2L so I knew it had a lot of power. Just don't like the gas mileage . Drove a 05 Hummer with a 6.0L and seemed slow off the line , but I would recommend if your going to buy a Hummer go with the 08 or 09 if you can afford it they are not cheap.May 29, 2014

I love this vehicle! This is the most comfortable vehicle I have ever drove. It also is very sturdy to make your family feel comfortable and safe. The luxury edition has all of the bells and whistles so that two people can be listening to different radio stations, while another watches a movie on the dvd player. Great vehicle!Dec 04, 2012

I have driven the 2008 H2 and feel GM did a nice job with the interior of the vehicle. The materials are nicer to the touch and the look is more pleasing. The 6.2 liter/ six speed trans are a great match. Apr 01, 2008

My 2008 H2 shuts off after a long drive
If I drive over 15 miles it shuts off after I get off of the freeway, When the rpms drop to idle it shuts off. took it to the dealer and they are guessing. they are now telling me I might need a new engine. The engine has no noise or any smoke coming from it. sound like the dealer is clueless. Any help would be great.
