The RS is one of two Eclipse coupes to house a 2.4 liter inline four, which provides 147 horsepower. The RS comes with a five-speed manual transmission and the optional four-speed automatic cannot be equipped with the manual shifter on this model.
Standard features include full power accessories, air conditioning, cup holders, alloy wheels, an anti-theft system and a six-speaker CD audio system.

Performance enhancements include four-wheel disc brakes and a sport-tuned suspension. The GT also get 17-inch tires.
The standard features list is similar to that of the GS, with convenience items like cruise control and keyless entry.

The top level GTS is also powered by the 3.0 liter V-6, but the GTS version provides ten additional horsepower, for a total output of 210. Torque remains at 205 pound-feet feet.
The GTS includes all of the performance enhancements that come standard on the GT, like a sport-tuned suspension and larger tires with polished alloy wheels. The GTS also adds leather upholstery, a six-way power driver seat, power sunroof, an Infinity audio system upgrade with a CD changer, steering-wheel radio controls and a compass.
