A styling change appeared in 2006 and turned the Eclipse into a design-award-winning, sleek hatchback coupe. 2009 brings an exterior freshening, with a new black grill and front bumper fascia that follow the 2008 Lancer Evolution design, dual exhausts, and a larger rear spoiler for the GT trim, with a new rear bumper fascia and three new exterior colors added across the line.
The GS coupe comes standard with an underpowered 162-hp, 2.4-liter inline four. The GT gets power from a 3.8-liter V6 that produces 265 hp and 262 lb-ft of torque and has dual exhausts. Transmission choices are a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic for the GS trim and a six-speed manual or a five-speed automatic for the GT. Both versions are front-wheel drive.
Weighing in at nearly 3,500 pounds, however, puts the damper on any sports-car agility for this very sporty looking coupe. Further discouraging sports-car athleticism, the Eclipse sits on the same platform as the Galant sedan and the Endeavor SUV. Reviewers fault its SUV-like turning radius, yet they find it provides a reasonable amount of fun in the twisties.
Set up by Mitsubishi for a comfortable ride, the Eclipse provides a satisfactory long-distance touring experience. For 2009, new fabric is used to enhance the cabin's appearance. The front seats are comfortable, but the backseats remain cramped. Overall, the interior features good quality materials and a great optional stereo system. Standard features include air-conditioning, keyless entry, cruise control, and a 50/50-split/folding backseat.
The GS comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution, dual-stage front airbags and side-impact airbags, foglights, keyless entry, a tire pressure monitoring system, and other features. The GT kicks it up to 18-inch wheels and adds active stability control, electronic traction control, HID headlamps, and other features. A sunroof and stereo packages are optional.

Great car. Good for it's value. Great shark-style appearance. Can use slightly more
pickup, but has an overall nice sound, quick engine, great sound system.
Interesting car to drive, and is well worth your money. Ice blue interior lighting
looks great, and the seats are quite comfortable. If the car had a slightly more

I think the Eclipse is a underrated car, especially the 4 cylinder. So far our family has owned four within the last 3 years and they were all four cylinders and we've all been impressed with the way they've performed. I think Mitsubishi made certain sacrifices to make vehicle so that it can be purchased by the middle of the road sports car enthusiast.
I'm a car enthusiast and have driven most of the sports cars made and I think this car has taken a little from each sports car out their, notice I didn't say a lot.. I've driven the car to it's limit and it's always done what I've excepted. No it didn't push me back in the seat, but when I test drove the GT it did. But along with that I drove the car on a long strip of curved roads and not many of the cars I've test could not over come the GS Eclipse in other words the cornering was excellent especially the car I drive now, with the manual transmission I was able to downshift and up shift quicker than the automatic which gave me a better feel for the road...
As far as the quality of the vehicle we've never had a problem with all of our cars, not one problem in 4 years.
I think the look is futuristic and a sign of things to come.
As far as the gas mileage it always depended on the way I drove the cars I don't mind less mileage when I want the car to be pushed it's limit. And on highway driving at a steady speed of 65 to 70 mph the car can get 33 mph.
I think the car is very fun and it's always depended on the way I drove it... But I think my latest Eclipse Spyder with the manual transmission and rag top is extremely entertaining with the roof down or up. Oh I forgot something the stereo absolutely rocks. Oct 25, 2009

I really liked the feel of this car. It had great performance and also had great handling and feel to the tires in corners. The shiftronic was a blast runing through the gears around town it really draws attention to the car, good and bad though. My feeling is that if i had a chance to buy this car i would but i would deff. opt for the gtsAug 03, 2008

Where is the fuel pump cut off switch in a 2009 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS?
My friend's car will not start now. He wants to take out the GPS the dealership built into it. I think he seems to think that is the problem. He called someone from Mitsubishi and they told him to first cut off the fuel pump switch. I just need some thoughts on what we should do to help fix this problem he is having. I need the location on the vehicle of where the fuel pump cut off switch is.

Nissan Dealership is showing a yellow Mitsubishi eclipse scroll down reads no accidents, but the first picture on passenger side clearly shows damage. The drivers side is fine. Look at the picture up close you see it is not shadow.
A car listed with no accidents in pictures clearly shows damage. Compare the left side to the right side. Shame! what else is fake about that posting the mileage also. Only 3 pictures total. Rate 1-5 I would give a zero! Not honest.
