Most of the changes for the 2003 Toyota Tacoma revolve around safety. The Tacoma got an antilock brake system and the addition of child restraint systems in several models.
The 2003 Toyota Tacoma came in a wide variety of trims, which included the Regular Cab 4WD, Xtracab 4WD, Xtracab V6 4WD, Double Cab V6 4WD, Regular Cab 2WD, PreRunner Regular Cab 2WD, Xtracab 2WD, PreRunner Xtracab 2WD, S-Runner Xtracab V6 2WD, PreRunner, Double Cab 2WD, PreRunner Xtracab V6 2WD, and the PreRunner Double Cab V6 2WD. The new Double Cab models offered four doors instead of two and extra room in the extended cab. The S Runner was the sporty model, offering a sport-tuned suspension. Fuel economy was about 17/20 mpg.
The Toyota Tacoma is popular because it is a small, dependable truck that offers ruggedness and hauling capacity in a smaller package. Some drivers find that the seats can be uncomfortable, and many say that the Xtracab is too small for anyone but children.

It was a good truck i always got compliments. The exhaust the previous owner put on it was a bit much but other than that the truck was probably one of my favorite vehicles. Tacoma's are awesome. That is all.Apr 30, 2015

I love everything about this truck except that its not ideal for 4 passengers, i would love to get a 4 door toyota tacoma someday. This truck is great for snow, ice, mud, off roading, and driving to a from work or school.Dec 23, 2014

Can't really find anything of significance. It has been a reliable truck that has fulfilled my needs. It always receives compliments on how good it looks. I like the round wheel wells as they aren't angled like the models are today.Apr 14, 2014

I give this car out of a 9/10. This truck is very reliable, has good mpg and I never had to worry about it breaking down. It has a smaller bed space then I wanted, but it had still had enough room to fit a toolbox and a four wheeler.Jan 08, 2014

Truck is a good compromise of size and power. A 6 foot bed which totes everything I need along with a 5K lb towing capacity. It will handle 95% of what you will probably throw at it and come back for more. With a newer set of BFGs or Firestone Destination AT tires, I have been very successful in snow, mud, ice, rain etc. Great truck for just about anything.Mar 15, 2013

used it for off roading and commuting to work for the first 2 yrs then after injury just for running errands and transportation. Its not fast but very capable off road and in snow (unstoppable)great build quality duh its a toyota. 17/21 mpg average maintenance. very fun to drive unless you're looking for speedJun 09, 2011

Prefect reliability so far, 7 years and 110,000 miles. never left me on the side of the road. Tows reasonably well, the only issues towing is could use a little more power. Typical toyota computer though. if you go from beach to mountains. Once you get there best thing to do is disconnect battery both sides and touch the cables together for 30 seconds. resets computer to default. Otherwise it takes about 3 days to learn. good car, great feel on the pedal and clutch and rugged body but it's a rough ride when it's empty, fill it with 1000 lbs of stuff and it rides like a Lexus. Arm rests are brutal but seat is comfortable.Jun 28, 2010

I bought this truck in the summer of 2006. I have my likes and dislikes about it. So here goes:
Likes:
Dependable
An Offroad Beast
Fairly easy to work on when need be
5 speed & V6 & 4wd (getting harder to find all these together)
Dislikes:
Pretty week on the powerside
Seats could be a lot more comfortable
As w/ many Toyotas the cab lighting isn't the greatest and bulbs burn out early
-Dash and console lights are expensive...$6 a piece...I've replace 2 so far and have 2 more blown behind the dash....and none of them are easy to get to!
Extended Cab area is small to say the least with no backward opening doors to help w/ entryMay 01, 2010

Could use another gear it pulls a little too hard on the interstate above 60. a little more space would be nice. I want a four door in the future.

It's the girliest looking truck you've ever seen, but that means it's perfect for me! Good thing it has amazing brakes because I follow too close and brake too late. The handling is extremely responsive to my crazy driving. The acceleration isn't what I would like it to be, but I've never gotten a speeding ticket! :)Sep 13, 2008
