Safe, Fun, Affordable, Functional And Nice Looking — A pretty good small SUV overall. Could have better gas mileage, but for 4WD, not bad. On recommendation of a friend, I stuck a K&N high air flow filter in there for improved mpg. It did help - maybe adding another 1 mile mpg. I like that it is high off the ground, but not too high so that an elderly passenger can't get in. Wish there was a wee bit more clearance from top to bottom interior on the hatchback with rear seats folded down.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Great price on pre-owned ones.  Very safe.  Has good reviews on the powertrain. Easy automatic 4WD.

Cons: Low resale value.  Not as gas efficient as I'd like. Ford stopped making a lot of its replacement parts - like trim, interior colored pieces, etc.

Great Overall — I loved how spacious and open it was, it road very well, etc I disliked the low mpg. But all over it is an amazing great first car, and or family car. Good for teenagers, easy drive, and is great off road.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: look, great interior, hardly any scratches, family car, great first car, spacious, etc.

    Cons: low mpg

My 02 Escape :) — Wonderful Truck. I Love My Vehicle. It Gets Great Gas Mileage. I Love The Speed & Performance. I Prefer This Over Its Predecessors The Mazda Tribute & Mercury Mariner. It Is An Amazing Car To Drive & Everyone Should Get One Right Now.!! :)

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: I Love It All Around.

Cons: Cheap Ride In Back Seat.

Affordable, Reliable Mid-size Suv — We are the second owners of our Escape. At 118,000 miles, we have not invested more than $500 in normal repairs for wear and tear. The gas mileage is pretty good and the V6 engine is 'peppy'. It handles "average"; not sporty. Great smaller SUV for those who want something reliable and safe, that won't break your bank account.

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Reliable, affordable, adequate room in backseat, good gas mileage, lots of cargo space when the seats fold down

Cons: Nothing spectacular or sporty about the handling; interior materials could be of a higher quality

I Would Buy Another — Tons of power from the 3 Liter V6, decent fuel economy. SUV space and traction with turning radius and exterior size of a compact car. Tons of electrical issues, though the stereo is fantastic. The loaded XLT has decent interior quality, though the leather is cheap.

Primary Use: Utility (towing boats, transporting cargo, etc.)

Pros: Powerful and compact, yet roomy

    Cons: Electrical problems

Great — This has been a great running car for me. It drives wonderful in Ohio's weather. Just had a tune up and oil change 01/07/2011. There is some minor rust in a couple places but overall condition is good. It has been good to me.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

    Pros: 4x4

    Cons: 5 passenger seating

Overall, Great Car. Everytime I Get In It I Think To Myself, I Love This Car... — I love this car. I have never been too keen on Fords, then I got this ride. I have not had a single problem and was very happy that it came fully loaded. I have only had it since March 2010 but it has still served me well thus far!

    Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Works both for city and mountain driving.

    Cons: ..can't think of any..

Served Me Well — Have had it 7 years, and no major problems. Came fully loaded back then. It has enough pep. Not to big, not too small. Only downside is my interior door panels are comming off, could be from the Texas heat? Only repair I've had was my shift cable broke, few hundred to fix, but hey it's 7 years old... It is starting to ride a little rough, and the cabin is not the quietest. I did do some long trips, and used it everyday for home health, so I probably was a bit rough on it. Now has 115+ miles and I'm ready to upgrade. Have test drove the 2010 and they are much improved. Even if they don't exactly wow me.

    Primary Use: Commuting to work

    Pros: reliable, affordable

    Cons: no luxury factor
