Introduced just the year before, the 2002 Toyota Highlander saw very few changes for the model year. In response to consumer complaints, Toyota included a center console in the front. Other additions included a rear seat arm rests and passenger air filtration.
The 2002 Toyota Highlander came as a 2WD and a 4WD Standard and Limited, each as a four-cylinder or a V6 engine. The four-cylinder engine has 2.4 liters and 155 horsepower. The V6 has 3.0 liters and 220 horsepower. Fuel economy is about 18/22 to 22/27, depending on the engine and drive train.
Drivers like the 2002 Toyota Highlander for its comfortable seats and easy drivability. Some owners find the control knobs on the dash to be cheap-looking, and many say the vehicle is overpriced

The Toyota Highlander SUV V6 Ltd. 2002 has proven itself in performance, durability, and reliability. This vehicle,, garage kept with regular and proper maintenance , has exceed all expectations. Even with high mileage, 380,000+ miles, the original engine purrs, has pickup and go, when needed, and rides like a quiet dream. Hunter Green on the outside and tan leather interior on the inside. Plenty of leg and head room in both front and back seat, and ample storage space in the back. This vehicle is the better choice above all other mid-size SUV options.Aug 12, 2021

We really liked our highlander. We would have kept it, but we were planning on having a third child and the back seat is not big enough for three child seats. According to the Toyota dealer mechanic, this year has some problems with burning oil and we found that to be the case.Jan 29, 2015

Good SUV to have for the winter. Never had any problems with snow last year and
is actually quite fun in the snow. wasn't all that tough on power/acceleration but
now that I have the solara with the same v6 it moves a lot quicker now. The only
real bad part is if your like I am and need a cheap gas saver.... this is not the
vehicle for you... gets around 15-20. Not bad if you don't drive 60 miles per day :-

Great car for what it does....good gas mileage for a truck on its size...would have been nice to have a third row seat.....but i guess that was done for the 2004 onwards...good 220HP and it does pick up pretty well too...runs great even with a full load of passengers and cargo...nothing really fancy on the interior.....on the whole, it drive very well and very quiet ...a lexus in disguise...Aug 06, 2010

Had this car now for over 6 years. Currently has over 120K miles. Rarely been in the shop. Bought it new and has been a solid reliable car! Excellent build quality, reliability-overall an excellent value. I paid 30k plus TT. I would gladly buy another!!Dec 16, 2008

Its fully loaded with power and comfort and ability its said to have.
I had the option of this or a used mercedes or lexus of the same kind of models...I.E. rx300. But fell in love with this vehicle. Its perfect for one-five full size adults or a load of kids. Tons of safety features to go with its sporty look complete this well made solid quiet Toyota. Its only draw back would be not having rear ac vents! Mar 08, 2008

First of all, it's so nice to actually see out of an SUV. Love the power seats. Ultimate comfort, stylish interior. Easy to manuver and rides like a luxury car (Camry underneath). Have had this car for almost 3 years with no maintenance other than the oil changes. Feb 13, 2008

How do I stop Toyota water leak?
This is different. I’ve seen all the posts about water on the floor, or in floor mats or cowl or AC. All these years and never had those issues. I do now however have a water leak. This leak is coming in at a seam in the body overhead just inside the passenger front door. Wife seems to think something might have frozen then cracked when we got more than a foot of snow ❄️ and ice in February ... in the Deep South. All I know is she just noticed it today. I had not noticed it because I’m normally the only one in the car and thus would be on the driver’s side. Any help?
