Awesome And Reliable Car! — The Solara has been a great addition to our family. It hardly ever needs maintenance and performs well in any condition. It's fun and comfortable to drive on the highway and has a surprisingly large amount of cargo space. It's a blast to drive!

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Awesome and reliable car with plenty of power! This is a fun car to drive and feels like a sports car with the safety and reliability of a Toyota.

Cons: None!

All Around Great Car Like Any Toyota, But Nothing Amazing. — A weak 6, but it is a V-6 wich is always better than a 4. some of the dash panels get sun bleached and then start peeling up a bit. Air/Fuel mixture sensor went bad after 110, 000 miles about a 200 dollar part can install yourself. Other than that no unscheduled maintenance.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: sporty look on a luxury vehicle

Cons: needs a few more horses under the hood

Get It, It's Sweet. — Performance: Decent acceleration, good braking, and responsive handling for a non-sports car, steering is also responsive. Build Quality: it needed work on the front end, but that was because of the previous owner, the suspension works well now, it squeeks when the doors are opened, might be sagging from old age Appearance: leather on seats is wearing and it shows, the hood and front bumper are scratched(previous owner), the styling still looks good, even if it's 10 years old

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It's a Toyota.

Cons: None

Buy A Camry Or A Solara! You Wont Regret It!! — It's a toyota!! Need I say more? It's 10 years old and has 153k miles, but it still runs strong all day long! And it's way nicer than any new car I can currently afford. Too bad they don't make em anymore...

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: It's a Toyota!

Cons: 20 mpg :((

Awesome! — This car is awesome, it is soo much fun to drive! V6 has soo much power and accelerates quickly. 5sp is awesome and easy to shift! Love the deep black color and sleek look of the car! Awesome stereo with JBL speakers and built in amp, sounds amazing!

Pros: Amazing car fun to drive, love the 5 speed!

Cons: Needs louder exhaust!

Sexy Solara — I absolutely love this car. The car performs better then most vehicles on the road due to powerful acceleration and high end torque and horsepower. Brakes are quite soft, therefore more time must be given while braking at higher speeds. The car handles beautifully, soft and smoothly. TOO DAMN LAZY TO WRITE MORE LOL

Pros: Everythinge except for reliability

Cons: Very costly to repair and find parts, could use stiffer and longer lasting tires and shocks, could use a turbo.

99 Toyota Solara Se Coupe — Awesome car. Sports car feel. Fast acceleration for a 4 cyl. Roomy and comfortable interior. Car screams quality. My fuel economy is better than stated on mpg sites. Hasn't needed any major repairs at 70k. I get compliments galore. I have owned this car for almost ten years and don't think I'll ever sell it. Cheap to own. It's a keeper. I love my car!

Pros: Sporty, Fun, Fuel economy, Quality paint, Quality interior

Cons: None

Again, I Ask, Why Does Toyota Make This? —

Performance: from what i understand, the older solara's have more HP than the re-designed / newer engine for the '04 - current model year. i don't understand the reasoning. you can't design a true sport inspired car without a heritage. this car is an insult to any real driver. there are plenty of other things wrong with the general approach to the design. Build Quality: like any toyota, you can set it on fire and it will keep on going. i only wish mine were scorched to death, it would add character for the how-ever-many-years i will have to drive this awful shopping cart through college. Appearance: mine is actually in very good condition, with one previous owner & purchased new (still has new car smell). but if we're considering overall general appearance of the design - i can tell you i wouldn't even notice one passing by me on the roads. Cost of Ownership: barely anything. parts can be found in a wal-mart if you needed. Fun factor: unless you find saving the environment and sipping fuel to be equivalent to a frat party, no wait... whoever finds that previous statement to be true needs to hang themselves. there is no excitement in my balls when i drive this embarrassment. the two-wheel drive is in the wrong place, the battery is in the wrong place, the front end is too heavy, ergonomics are nowhere to be found (except for the tilt-wheel opt. i guess), the roar of an engine for a proper sports sedan has been silenced to a gentile exhale - i seriously had to open my driver's door to verify i had actually turned my car on. wtf.... Recommendations: certainly a smart option for any practical person wanting a reliable car with a hint of sport. but that's the problem - you pay for only a hint. if you've driven anything german-tuned before, this will be an insult to the driving experience.

Pros: It's reliable...

Cons: Not a sports car, it was wrong from the beginning and still is.

My First Car —

Performance - strong acceleration, smooth engine pulls especially strong at high rpms. 4 wheel disc brakes provide excellent stopping power. handling is ok, suspension provides a good compromise between comfort and handling. I wish there was a little less body lean though. huge turning radius. Build Quality - no squeaks or rattles. car is well insulated and is extremely quiet when windows are up and sunroof is closed. all electronics work perfectly. spare tire improperly secured in trunk. one of the rear cup holders broke. small hole in passenger seat. clutch throw out bearing died 97,670. no doubt the previous driver rode the clutch. Appearance - distinctive, but conservative (read: bland) exterior. beautiful tan interior. supple leather. tasteful faux wood trim. Cost of Ownership - decent gas mileage, mid 20s. 18.5 gallon tank makes me cry every time i fill up, but gets 400+ miles per tank. Fun Factor - Not the sportiest car in the world. Car feels heavy through turns. 5 speed manual is smooth but isn't as precise as mazdas. Extremely comfortable car to cruise around in, windows down, sunroof open, 200watt jbl speaker system blasting. Also very quiet at highway speeds. Can drive at 100+ with little wind or road noise. Overall - It's a very refined car, more suited for the older driver. Younger buyers would be better off with a compact, which are definitely more fun to drive, especially on backroads.

Pros: It's a Toyota (build quality, ride quality, and relability), leather, stick, sunroof, JBL speaker system, V6 (acceleration)

Cons: It's a Toyota (not that fun to drive, and  bland exterior styling), and V6 (gas mileage)
