Beautiful car, and definitely one of my all time favorites. After falling in love with the small bump that was offset on the hood, I had to get one. It was always an awesome car and being able to have the top down and jump inside was a major plus.Jul 14, 2012

The eclipse is a beautiful car, and it handles phenomenally well in bad weather, but after a while, the cars are just ready to die and require maintenance. With the convertible top, you have to be concerned with leaking into the seat, but overall it's a beautiful car.Sep 29, 2009

It handles great and it's quick off the line. it loves to burn the tires through 1st and 2nd gear. It's fun to drive and nice to look at. Gets about 30/31 mpg. Aftermarket parts are cheap and easy to come by.Jul 11, 2009

I special ordered my Spyder in 1997 and I still absolutely love it. It is really sleek and is still the best looking Eclipse ever. The car has lots of power and handles great. The small turbo-charged engine is incredible. It has plenty of power and gets great mileage when I drive nice which is not very often ;). Oct 17, 2008

96-99 Eclipse nailed the bodystyle dead on. Its looks scream "I am a sports car". It is realtively responsive once the turbo builds boost.
Too bad that's where the positive comments end. The car has spent more time on the shop lift than on the road. In 123000 miles it has received two transmission transplants, one engine transplant, one wiring harness transplant due to it catching on fire, 3 new convertible top motors, and the list goes on and on. Now it needs the convertible top frame needs replaced and Mitsu no longer sells parts. It leaks, too. What can I say.Feb 07, 2008

I have a 1998 Mist Eclipse spyder gs with 180k. while doing a test there was no water in the oil until i pressurized the line with a new cap. I just had replaced the thermostate, pressure tested rad, and a new water pump with all the belts to include timing. Now water in the oil. Do I buy a reman head and install a new head gasket( reman head was $300 and just install it or should i do something else

Ok so I have a 1998 eclipse that got bought for me and it’s been sitting for about a year and a half it runs gotta jump it off though but my question is when I start it up it doesn’t make a sound good clean and running but after a minute it starts to make a slight grinding sound in the motor that goes on and on slowly I need help to fix what is it?

1998 Spyder Eclipse 4.0 has white smoke and flame shooting out of the intake side
My eclipse started cutting off while at red lights and stop signs. Then started cutting off while driving. This last time it happened I was driving down the highway. Since then it wont start. It sounds like its trying to start in slow motion and I heard a shot of air coming from the air box. I took the air box off and disconnected it from the throttle body. I went ahead and replaced fuel injectors also. Tried to start it again and a flame shot out of the intake side of the throttle body then white smoke that's has a smell of gas. Anyone have any clue what's going on?

Replace the motor but keeps blowing the fuse 100-amp fuse to the windows and radio
I am trying to figure out how come everytime I start the car it keeps blowing out the power windows radio 100-amp fuse but when the car is not start everything works fine the soon as you start the car it keeps blowing at one hundred amp fuse out for the windows and radio I know it's something tween the starter and alternator in the battery I looked at all the wires there's no issue with the wires trying to figure out why it's keep shorting out like that
