He's Just Great. — well the only thing appearance wise that looks bad, is the hood needs a paint job. It has sun damage. And there is either a valve tap or an injector knock in the engine. We need to change the oil in him then he should be running better. :) He is slow to accelerate, but when he gets goin, he doesn't want to slow down. I don't like the color of the interior. It's a tan color, but whatever. His name is Sully.

Primary Use: Commuting to work

Pros: Good gas milleage

Cons: He's a little slow.

It Kicks Side Ways Pretty Fast With A Clutch Kick — it has some good performance. the build of the car is pretty impressive. the interior is mint, but i dont like the out side of the vehicle. the cost for this car is expensive.. the parts are out radges for everything. the car is really fun to drive.

Primary Use: Sport/fun (spirited driving, track racing, off-roading, etc.)

Pros: yes it is fun

Cons: expensive to repair

Over-all The Car Is Great Mechancally, But The Metal Could Be Improved — Good speed and braking. Car needs little or few repairs or maintenance stops. Exterior sheet metal not to good due the fact of asian steel making works are poor quality. Car has a sleek wedge shape which is nice and the interior is high tech for the year lots of power options. Gas, tires and minor body is all that i have in 4 years of ownership. Car is fun to drive all year long with hint of off- road .

Primary Use: Family transportation

Pros: Excellent in the winter and all around good mpg

Cons: No interior head room, 4 cyl. low hp, low gr. clr.

Legacy — rust but low miles, a new pair of tires would definatley improve handeling. also, the struts are shot. AWD would be a definate improvement The headlights are fairly dim. I turbo would be nice as well as some Yokohamas! woot

My '92 Subaru's Like... — It's fast, it holds the road and it's responsive. It's acceleration is good and it has good top-end, generally ready for a gear change at 2500rpm but letting you push to 3500 rpm if that gets your testosterone pumping. The brakes were surprisingly firm for such an old car but nevertheless needed replacement. The suspension was tweaked, replacing worn out struts, ball bearings and ball joints, the shock absorbers replaced and a new set of tyres with sport rims fitted. The steering column was replaced because of wear and tear to the previous one. The clutch plate and pressure plate were also replaced. An engine overhaul was done, the body repainted and the rear bumper replaced. The cpu that regulates fuel injection short-circuited on its first long drive and was replaced. The timing chain was readjusted, the spark plugs replaced and an overhaul of the engine done. All the electricals, except the radio, are in working order. It's roomy inside and with the right decor could be a serious cruisemobile. It lacked climbing power at first but this could have been attributed to a number of service issues that were quickly resolved. Fuel efficiency is decent for a make that's been traditionally associated with high fuel bills. Overall, a good drive!

Pros: Solid, powerful, fast, aesthetic, comfortable

Cons: Expensive parts

Bought This From My Mom For My Nanny Years Ago — OK, so I bought this so the nanny would have a car. It's reliable, but ugly.

Pros: Cheap. Surprisingly reliable. I couldn't kill this car.

Cons: Slow, ugly.

Ancient 1.8l Non-turbo Subaru That Will Still Let You Know Whether You Know How To Drive Or Not! — 1992 Face lift Subaru Legacy, Ti Type S. Supposedly the least performing Subaru of its' age. Had the engine reconditioned, tweaked, and she'll now power off the mark a lot better than one would expect. Ancient and tired, she's going to be replaced by a 2002 Subaru Forester. As it is though, the stereo is mint... JVC head unti running and Sony Explode amp (don't buy one) which powers to Pheoni Gold 6x9s. Beautifull sound but regulations mean the pancel tray is now an aspect of satructural integrity, limited base resonance. Still, I bought her as a work car, she runs bloody well, will happily do 160k down the motorway, and stops and starts without fail. If you need an engine rebuild and you're in the hutt, goto 'Maidstone Autopoint'. Chris is the owner and if he doesn't know what's what, someone else there will. I have previously owned an MG Metro which needed a new clutch, radiator and a full engine rebuild (with a slight grind on the cam). It was a nice car. As far as subarus go, today I managed to get a 1.8l non-turbo 92' legacy into a full 4wd drift over a reasonable distance. Time I bought something serious.

Legend Of The Past — Mine had done 230,000 km, with a bigger turbo and 18psi boost. Sold it for $14,000. Still running like a champ.

Pros: Great first car plenty of performance and idiot proof.

Cons: Getting a bit old now. Gearboxes are made of glass. Engine can get
tapety at high ks

It´s A Subaru — Summary: Best car ownwrship experience ever. After 7 years, 70,000 km I still get a "new car" ride. Very low maintenance and high satisfaction. Strengths: AWD, manual transmission provides 50/50 power to front and rear wheels. Fun to drive. Very reliable, few repairs. Shear driving excitement. Handles well in tight turns, nimble, solid. Weaknesses: none
