1992 Honda Accord Reviews, Pricing & Specs

This has been fantastic car for me -- expecially since I got it with just under 100K on it for $5400 and have driven it for 10 years. Now nad just 161k on it and I'm planning to sell it for expected $2500. Car has adequate power (16 valve engine still is strong and even quick with 5 speed stick ), it runs great and gets good gas mileage. On a long trip, I once saw close to 500 miles on one tank of gas. After nearly 20 years, (with diligent upkeep) everything still works - and things that do need replacing after regular wear and tear are reasonable to fix. I put all-season performance tires on it and they made a huge difference -- it will really hang on through exit ramps and back roads. A little more body roll than a true sports car, but this is a 92 Accord after all! Fifteen spoke alloy wheels still look clean and distinguished - but admittedly are a pain to keep clean with all those cavities for dirt to build up. Overall I love this car! Overall its a good travel/daily driver. Lots of space for what it is, nice size trunk and back seat. Leg room in the back isnt so good if your more than 6' tall though. MPG 29.1 Average (I do more highway than city driving) Has a massive fuel tank - 17 US Gals - the largest capacity of any Honda I've owned. The up side is that on a trip you dont have to stop for gas often. Repairs done: Standard stuff really, valve cover gasket, axles after 200k miles, brakes disks, and routine oil changes. Still on stock engine/transmission/clutch and well over 200k miles. Its the F22 engine in this one. What could be better: The car could use a little more power - I can see why the newer models are mostly the V6 engine - once your over 30MPH it pulls pretty good getting on the interstate. from 55MPH to 80MPH its just fine - so highway travel is cake. There is no light to light speed though - it likes smooth starts. Dec 29, 2010

well it is what it is..... its a family car with a little bit of a sport feel. you can do alot with them but at the end of the day its still a family sedan. as far as the quality factor goes it will last forever with generalized upkeep and as long as you catch the problems before they become major it will do what you want and not give you too much fuss. interior wise they leave alot to be desired, but for a early 90's car you cant do too much better and aftermarket gauges are easy to install so you can get a better feel of what exactly your engine is doing. its a fairly cheap car to drive if it has been maintained just dont expect it to handle like a porsche or accelerate like a old amx. is it fun to drive? yeah that it is, the car itself is very forgiving and wont let you down, its not the fastest thing arround but its got some decent speed if you have the money to put into it and you can get decent handling out of it but it all comes down to what you want vs what you are willing to spend. mine isnt a project car, its a daily driver but that doesnt mean that i havent put decent work into making it faster, but will i put thousands into it like i have some of my other projects? no. at the end of the day make your fast car faster and your comfy car more comfortable. because it will let you appreciate both more. its an ok car i have 264,000 miles on it i have had to change the transmition and the seal gasket sometimes leaks i have replaced it 3 times and the fuel pump relay raondomly wont turn like every other month other than that i have had no problems it gets good gas millage drives ok good view not really any blind spots compared to other cars i have driven. its a good car for new drivers and people wanting to work on there own cars. the engine is pretty easy to work onFeb 11, 2010

The Honda Accord is a quality car. It is built for both performance and efficiency. Chevrolet says their cars are built of quality unsurpassed by Toyota or Honda. Their definition of quality is luxury. My definition of quality is a car that will stay on the road beyond 200,000 miles without major parts replacements. The Honda Accord does have its share of problems, but its strong points outweigh its faults.Jun 10, 2009

Performance: more power than I thought it would, especially after a few modifications. Build: I got it in great condition, and it's been one of my best cars. Runs great. Appearance: It's a pretty decent looking car for the most part, I made a few modifications to make it look better, I'm fairly satisfied with it. Cost: it's a pretty cheap car for the most part. Well, this is my Own car, a 1992 Honda Accord. I bought it 2 years ago by pure coincidence, but never regretted doing so. Soon after I started the process of having it restored to a very acceptable state. Hopefully it will be nearer to perfect after a few other mods. The car has a 2.0ltr engine (F20B for those in the know) which produces 130bhp, and what feels rougly like 150nm of torque at least (I simply can't find torque figures for the engine). Acceleration isn't mind blowing, around 9 sec to 60mph, however it's performance through the gears is eager and very responsive. Once in 2nd gear, at around 3000rpm, the fun is guaranteed, and can blow out of its way a lot of more powerful cars. The ride is very refined for it's age, and also has a really sporty feel (even for a big car) once you give it a go. Build quality is second to none, and still in perfect condition (still has it's original interior). I simply love it's apperance. The spray colour is brilliant apart from rare, and if you ask me, the front is it's most lovely part. Exterior wise the only mods for now where the front lip, Accord/prelude original rims, and sprayed bumpers and skirts. And yes it is fun to drive, even around corners... It's a car i'd love to own and maintain forever. Dec 21, 2008

The best part about this car is the fact that it is cheap to buy and to drive. Even though it's got 275,000 miles on it, it hasn't had any major problems. As long as it's not pushed too hard, this car will last forever. It's definitely not a race car or a huge truck, but it does what its supposed to do. It has an amazing A/C system... thank goodness. Performance - Fun to drive, but there could be a little more power. Build Quality - Great; 275000 and still going strong. Appearance - Looks very good for its time period, but we have come up with a few better looks since then. Cost of Ownership - Wasn't bad before gas went over $4/gallon. never thought I would like to drive a wagon. This little car doesn't look like much but still drives better than alot of chrysler chevy and fords out there, including new ones. handles very securely even on old OE struts, braking is good, as far as I'm concerned excellent driver comfort, everything in reach and easily adjusted, good visibility. If you can find one in good condition, and that still gets good mpg, i suggest picking one up. Every car has its ups and downs, even this one. Its gets good mpg(24). Its cheap to mod/repair and if youre into tuning and know what youre doing, with a weekend, a buddy and the right tools, this can easily become a nicely powered(200hp) daily driver. Mar 08, 2008

I have the trypical issues of wet trunk and rust spot over the left rear wheel. I'm on the original clutch and pretty much everything works. I baby this car when I drive and am trying to get at least another year out of it. I'm hoping the oil light which has come on and gone off twice while going down the hill to my driveway is just a sensor problem, otherwise, that's the end for this car.Nov 28, 2007
