A Amazing High End Vehicle Nothing Compares. — Nothing Volvo's are the best cars built period. Not one car can be compared to this high end vehicle. Sets the standard for safty world wide. Would never want to drive any other car after a Volvo. Strong engines can easily live forever with basic mantiance. Strongly believe in these cars. Use only Castrol GTX 20- 50 in summer & Castrol 5-40 in the winter or 10-30. These cars are bullet profe run forever !. Primary Use: Family transportation Pros: I had owned a few Volvo 240's. My favorite ones where the 1984 Volvo 240 Turbo sedan. Had both 4 speed with push button manual & automatic with overdrive. They had loads of power & where very reliable cars. As well i had a accident in my manual in 2005 in Vancouver BC. I was hit turning left on a advanced green. The lady went trew a red & hit my rear end at 80kms. He 1996 VW Jetta was tottaled & was not drivable. My Volvo i drove around till ICBC said i should get it looked at by them. They said it didnt look safe !. As i had a dent on the rear quater. ICBC wrote of my car. I bought it back fixed it myself then insured it. Usally they make it go threw inspection but was able to insure it with out !. So ran well till some other idiot hit me on the front end. Had no witness so sold car ass is for a loss. Cons: ICBC writes off older Volvo's as it cost more money than they say the car is worth. Unfair insurence companies. The cars themselfs are amazing a truly the safest car i have ever owned. ![]() Looking for a Used 240 in your area?CarGurus has 22 nationwide 240 listings and the tools to find you a great deal. |

Volvo 240 Gle — It's rock solid but drinks gas like water. If you were to invest into this car, you'd never regret it! Thit's so safe. It costs about $4,000 so it's value for money. Super solid drive and you can take it through anything with the full set of disc breaks and all! Pros: Safe and Solid Cons: Drinks Gas like water |

Eye Of The Beholder — My first car - brought of the local butcher in Taringa for $4K. Had 240,000 on the clock when I got it but never showed any sign of slowing down. It was love at first sight. Sold it to the local RACQ man so glad it went to a good home. Saw it parked at the shops the other day and got a bit emotional. These cars will outlive as all and a classic never dies. They should bring it back into production!!! Pros: Never let me down, never got pulled over by police, Inside was a dream and I loved the seatbelt plug into the console and reminder flashing light (front seat even had a sensor - why don't they have this still?) Cons: petrol was 80 cents a litre when I had the 240 but I guess now this would be a problem |

The $900 Wonder Wheel, As I Call It. Has Not Let Us Down Yet! — Bought the car 1 1/2 years ago for $900 off the side of the road, and have not had any problems with it. I have put about $500 inot it, it has over 160k for miles, and it is still goin strong.! Pros: Good on gas, 4 speed, safe and roomy Cons: Finding parts can be a long wait! |

The Paradox That Is The Volvo 240. By Chris
A Volvo 240 Wagon is one of those cars that defies logic. A slow, boxy, minimalist station wagon, which changed very little over its 18 year production run should not inspire great enthusiasm. Odd... Read More
