Mercedes-Benz SL600 History
Outside of the company's limited run SL65 AMG, no sports roadster tops the SL600 in the Mercedes-Benz lineup. And the many lovers of this car are likely to argue that no other sports roadster in the world can top the SL600.
The car is a step up from other roadsters in the S- and SL-classes, for obvious reasons. Owners gladly pluck down well in excess of six figures for a chance to drive a roadster with a 510 horsepower, V12 engine and revel in the car's sleek curves and contours.
For 2007, the SL600 received a complete redesign, which included such exterior upgrades as a gray titanium grille, Xenon high-intensity headlights, halogen corner-illuminating front foglights, side vents, and dual chrome exhaust tips. The result was a more aerodynamic, more muscular appearance.
Like all SL roadsters, it also was equipped with an electrohydraulic retractable aluminum folding hardtop that stows in the trunk. The roof, which has an electrically heated rear window, can be operated with either the console controller or the SmartKey remote controller.
The SL600's interior features included 12-way power-adjustable heated front seats, Nappa leather upholstery, a leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, velour carpeting, dual-zone automatic climate control, power windows, electronic cruise control, and hand-polished Chestnut, Burl Walnut, or Black Ash wood trim.
