Reviews SummaryAutomakers have traditionally had a hard time making money on entry-level subcompact cars, because they have low profit margins, but America has largely moved away from cars to crossover SUVs—and higher prices. That allows car companies to offer an entry-level subcompact SUV for thousands more than a similar sedan or hatchback. Such is the case with the Hyundai Venue, which costs more than its predecessor, the subcompact Accent that was dropped after the 2022 model year. While the price is higher, the advantage for buyers is a vehicle that generally has more cargo space and is more practical. We recently drove the 2026 Hyundai Venue SEL w/2-Tone Roof (yes, that’s the trim level name) to find out if a subcompact crossover is a better buy than a cheaper subcompact car. Verdict: The Hyundai Venue sacrifices refinement for a price point that isn’t as low as a comparable subcompact car. We’d be tempted to spend a little more for a slightly larger compact car with more power, features, and refinement.
Reviews SummaryYou can’t miss the Willys ’41 Special Edition. It has exclusive ’41 paint (drab olive green), 17-inch aluminum wheels styled like steelies and dipped in the same color, and a tan soft-top roof. Steel front and rear bumpers, along with 33-inch all-terrain tires, are also standard. Inside, exclusive Heritage Tan cloth seats and an Olive Drab cloth dashboard insert set the 2025 Wrangler 4xe Willys ’41 edition apart. All in, it looks ready to serve. Verdict: We like the 2025 Wrangler 4xe (and the Wrangler in general), but if you buy one with a conventional mindset regarding comfort, convenience, refinement, and sophistication, this Jeep isn’t right for you. Raw, rugged, and objectively flawed, the Wrangler is about a lifestyle and image, not convenient commuting.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Willys '41 Special Edition stood out even in the gloomy Southern California weather, drawing attention with its unique design elements like the unusual color, terrific wheel design, and tan fabric top. Despite its World War II cosplay vibe, the wheels were a hit, and Jeep could easily offer them as an accessory upgrade. The Willys '41 offered various top options, including a standard tan soft top, a body-color hardtop, and the Sky One-Touch power-operated top. Inside, the Heritage Tan cloth seats matched the soft top, paired with an Olive Drab cloth dashboard insert and an exclusive '41 shifter knob. The interior, while raw and unrefined, was designed for durability and easy cleaning, essential for a vehicle exposed to dirt and moisture.
The 2026 Hyundai Venue, classified as a crossover SUV, had a design more akin to a tall hatchback. Its small and narrow appearance, upright windshield, and SUV cues like the bluff nose and roof rails gave it a European runabout feel. The Venue's high nose, lower headlights, and high-set daytime running lights contributed to its SUV-like design. Inside, the Venue's simple and functional look was complemented by a digital instrument cluster and a small touchscreen. The body-color trim around the air vents and shifter added a touch of the exterior design to the interior. Despite its modest size, the Venue offered a practical and straightforward design.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe was America's best-selling plug-in hybrid, with over 250,000 units built since its debut. It featured a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with two electric motors, providing an estimated 21 miles of electric-only driving range. The 17.3-kWh battery pack could be recharged in 12 hours using a standard outlet or 2.5 hours with a Level 2 charger. The Wrangler 4xe offered three driving modes: Hybrid, Electric, and E-Save, allowing drivers to maximize power or efficiency. In Hybrid mode, the Wrangler 4xe produced 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, making it a quick SUV with impressive fuel economy. However, its efficiency decreased without regular battery recharging. Despite its off-road capabilities, the Wrangler 4xe had a noisy interior and modest handling.
The 2026 Hyundai Venue, powered by a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, delivered 121 horsepower and 113 pound-feet of torque through a CVT to the front wheels. It wasn't quick, with a 0-60 mph time of 8.5–8.8 seconds, but its lightweight design made it peppy in city traffic. The Venue's handling benefited from its small size and low weight, making it easy to maneuver in traffic and fit into tight parking spots. However, its 6.7 inches of ground clearance resulted in some lean in corners. The Venue's ride was generally comfortable, but the solid rear axle made it jiggly on broken pavement.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe accommodated four adults, with the option to squeeze a fifth person in the back seat. The top-tier Rubicon X model offered 12-way power-adjustable front seats with Nappa leather, while most versions had manual adjusters and cloth upholstery. The Wrangler's interior was cramped for tall individuals, and storage space was limited, requiring creative solutions. The soft top provided easy access to open-air driving but made loading cargo more challenging. The Wrangler 4xe offered 27.7 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 67.4 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
The 2026 Hyundai Venue featured cloth and H-Tex seats with six-way manual adjustments, providing comfort and a natural driving position. The rear seat offered just enough room for average-sized adults, but taller individuals would struggle for legroom. The Venue's cargo space was modest, with 18.7 cubic feet with the rear seats up and 31.9 cubic feet with them folded. The rear cargo floor lifted to access the compact spare tire, revealing cost-cutting measures like the lack of sound deadening. The Venue's interior was dominated by hard black plastic, with limited soft-touch surfaces.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe came standard with a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system featuring Uconnect 5 technology, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. While navigation wasn't available on the Willys '41, Apple CarPlay worked well for navigation needs. The optional nine-speaker Alpine sound system effectively mitigated ambient noise, and the touchscreen was intuitive and responsive. The Wrangler's infotainment system supported two Bluetooth devices simultaneously, but a wireless charger was not available.
The 2026 Hyundai Venue was equipped with an 8-inch touchscreen for basic infotainment features, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. While it lacked navigation, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and SiriusXM satellite radio, the touchscreen was user-friendly and responsive. The Venue's audio system was a simple six-speaker unit, with no premium option available. The digital instrument cluster displayed limited information and was not programmable.
The 2025 Jeep Wrangler 4xe offered limited safety technologies, with forward-collision warning and adaptive cruise control as standard features. The optional Active Safety Group included automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and rear parking sensors. However, the Wrangler's safety ratings were mediocre, with a three-star rollover resistance rating from the NHTSA and unimpressive scores from the IIHS. The Wrangler's side-curtain airbags were a recent addition, but overall safety was an area in need of improvement.
The 2026 Hyundai Venue came with a good set of standard safety features, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, a driver-attention monitor, and a rear-occupant warning. Blind-spot monitors and rear cross-traffic alert were available on all but the base SE model. The Venue's safety ratings were mediocre, with a four-star rating from the NHTSA and incomplete ratings from the IIHS. The Venue received a "Good" score in the small front overlap test, but other ratings were unavailable.
