Golf cooling system malfunction
The cooling system of our 2010 VW Golf empties itself when the car is not in use. The cooling system has been pressure tested twice and no fault found. Any ideas please?

Volkswagen has a new mission, namely “Strategy 2018,” and it’s a doozie. VW has put Toyota squarely in its crosshairs, hoping to replace the Asian automobile manufacturer as the world leader in vehicle production. Chattanooga, Tennessee, will see a direct result of this new initiative by way of a new assembly plant, scheduled to be online in 2011 with a production capacity of 150,000 vehicles. More immediately, the Volkswagen Rabbit has been redesigned and rebadged for the North American market, dropping the “Rabbit” nameplate for the slightly more masculine “Golf.” While most dimensions will remain pretty much the same - the new car is 0.7” wider and 0.2” shorter - the Golf has been totally redesigned inside and out, with new skin and skeleton as well as drivetrains.
A long list of available engines, including two diesel options, means a wide demographic appeal for the Mark VI Golf. Choices start with a 1.4-liter, naturally aspirated, 79-hp inline four cylinder. That engine is available turbocharged or with both turbo and supercharging, both intercooled, for 121 and 158 hp, respectively. A turbocharged 1.6 liter is also available and good for 101 hp. Two 2.0-liter diesel engines will also be offered, producing 109 and 138 hp. Individual efficiency ratings have not been released, but Volkswagen has estimated lows of 24 mpg for the high-performance 1.4 in the city and a high figure of 64 mpg for the diesel on the highway.
While the platform itself is a carryover, the exterior gets a refresh, with a new grille, angled headlamps, and a redesigned rear that follows the flow of the more organic lines throughout the three- or five-door, front- or all-wheel-drive vehicle. The standard transmission is a six-speed manual, with a six-speed Tiptronic automatic as an option, although the DSG dual-clutch sequential “manuals” may also be available as options. An interesting feature is VW’s DCC Adaptive Chassis Control, which adjusts suspension and steering settings between “Automatic,” “Comfort,” and “Sport” and has been noted by reviewers to provide distinct feel differences while driving. Standard safety features have not yet been released, but have been suggested to include everything in the current Rabbit/Golf lineup, plus additional features, such as up to nine airbags.

It was a base car without any options except a moonroof. The exterior and interior were in good shape and only had signs of minor wear and tear. The car seemed to run okay but appeared to need a tune up and a four-wheel alignment. The car pulled slightly to the right during my test drive. Overall, I felt that the car was slightly over-priced given the limited options and low aesthetic appeal. Ultimately, I purchased another vehicle from another dealership.Mar 03, 2023

Bought used when looking for a commuter with good gas mileage. Carries one bike in back with front wheel off. Also has rack on back for bike. Lots of room in back seat but not easy to get into back due to 2 door version. Waiting for fuel economy to get better as engine continues to break in!Feb 02, 2015

i have owned BMWs and Mercedes my whole life but nothing beats this super fast slot car that gets over 40 miles to a gallon and costs under 30K! This is my third VW and my first TDI. Im never going back to a gas car.
I'm still a big fan of TDI since the VW FIASCO. I still get 40 mpg and have almost 100,000 miles on the car. I chipped the engine which will be updated when VW updates the engine software to comply with the mandatory recall. Basically, if you want an awesome car, the price is lower now for used TDIs!! Just get the car chipped and you are zooming! Also, I highly recommend coil overs to slightly lower the car. Cheers!Dec 12, 2014

Very nice car that's a definite upgrade from the previous generation (which my wife has). Navigation system is very nice, but there's room for improvement there. The car is great at freeway speeds and the 6th gear really helps with fuel economy.Dec 31, 2013

Have seen 55.5 mpg's but if drive the way VW wants you to, over 2k rpm's mpg's drop to mid 40's. 2k rpm's =72mph in 6th. Need to improve exhaust (particulate filter) car could be so much more. European spec 170 hp 300+tq stock this would really wake up the states.
Used for everything commute,little spirited driving towing 2 dirt bikes on small utility trailer Ohio to New Mexico long stretches over 80 mph temp never moved.

I bought it in late 2010 and have only driven about 9200 miles( as of April 2012). I love the car, I wish I could drive it more but my work is only 2 miles away and we have another car which is a lease so we drive that more. Wish it had leather seats.Apr 22, 2012

Quick off the mark but handles like a growbag. Needs stiffer suspension, but it's still a Golf so I'm happy :) Cheap to run and insure, i haven't had it serviced yet and it needs a new nose cos i drove it into a peugeot and lost. Lame :S Apr 16, 2012

this is a great car. The car has a great weight/bhp ratio, a great look and handling.

I think VW TDI are great cars to use in countries with high fuel prices, such as Europe. In such cases, diesel is the only option to drive without spending a fortune. Within diesel engines VAG TDI's are among the best: low diesel comsumption and many horse power!Sep 18, 2011

i love this car yeh its not the GTI Or R32 but really why do you need all that when i use it to go to work drive around town. Is the cars Performane good it could be better but it for that reason no i bought because it did not put a huge dent in my pocket it was new when i bought it i payed cash for it $19,000. Overall satisfaction is a vehicle.
There is sufficient capacity in the style of a hatchback trunk.

I love my car. It is not fast per say but its a solid car. Gets the job done and is a lot
of fun to drive. Its inexpensive to own with a great warranty as well. Gas is
generally not over $45.00 but it lasts anywhere from 250 to 350 miles depending

Golfen er nok den bedste bil jeg har haft. Den er fint afstemt mellem sport/komfort. Benzin forbruget er dog ikke i nærheden af fabriksoplysninger ved by kørsel. ca. 10 - 12 km/ltr. Jeg kan dog ikke forstå hvordan VW kan forlange 16.000 kr for et anhængertræk ?Aug 17, 2010

generation older in interior and total build quality. Excellent
comfort, and far better driving skills than earlier models. Only
lacking is engine power, but the latest GTD, GTi and cumming

I like the car overall, the car is accelerates well but is not that fast with the 1.6TDI 90Bhp. Steering is not that direct but could be due to the eco tyres. It is a very quiet car and you only hear the engine if you really rev it. Very nice car to drive, for a base model, it definitely feels like an expensive car. Oct 03, 2009

I actually have a 2009 City Golf, but it wasn't listed. You won't get anywhere fast, but the ride will be comfortable. The car feels like it's well put together. The sound system is very impressive. The hatch is a versatile feature.Sep 06, 2009

Hello guys i got recently gone at a mechanic coz i got a symbol of egr in my car checked on so when i go and checked that the egr got problem he told me to delete the egr completly from car so i can avoid this kind of problems and he told me to delete the Dpf too .. I just replaced my golf 6 TSI 1.2 battery. Unfortunately I replaced it backwards. The hooter went on. I replaced it correctly now red battery and steering wheel signs are on.
