Write a reviewThe Porsche Cayenne receives a bump in power for 2008, as well as some minor styling upgrades that make the sporty SUV more aerodynamic and more fuel-efficient.
The 2008 Cayenne is available with a choice of three engines. The base 3.6-liter V6 gets a goose of 43 horsepower, to 290 horsepower, which drives the vehicle from 0 to 60 more than a second faster than the engine it replaces, while the new 4.8-liter V8 (available on the S trim package) receives a boost of 45 horsepower, to 385 horsepower. At the top of the heap is a twin-turbocharged V8, which produces a whopping 500 horsepower, up 50 horsepower from the previous year.
Porsche achieved these boosts in power via direct injection (on all three engines) and variable valve timing (on the V8 engines). The direct injection, by the way, also helps make the engines more fuel-efficient.
Exterior changes are subtle and include a revised front end, which helps improve aerodynamics, as well as new headlights and taillights and a new rear spoiler. All-wheel drive is standard across the line.
The 2008 Cayenne also gets more powerful brakes, and such new features as the Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control system, which helps keep the vehicle level during hard cornering. And with all that additional power under the hood, you might be using that new leveling system more than you think.

Absolutely Awesome car to Drive. Hardly any problems in 4 years of ownership, bought at 57,000.km.has 75.000.km now, not great on gas but it is a 4.8 l V8 and goes like a sports car. Nothing compares to driving a Porsche, they make Amazing Cars. It has Every option except Bluetooth which was a separate option that year, I got a great deal.on.it 4 yrs ago and would buy again in a heartbeat. Really nothing compares to driving a Porsche its a small SUV sportscar, great on slick roads with snows will walk thru anything.Aug 22, 2023

Much worse condition than advertised, the car has been sitting for multiple years despite the owner claiming it’s been a couple of months. The owner knows he’s charging too much and will pressure you to make a purchase decision before you can think about it, along with lying about other people ‘coming any day now’ to get the car if you don’t get it first. The ride was smooth and tight; a real pleasure to drive! I liked the hand rails along side each console vs. above the window in the ceiling. Liked the hide-away-space in the glove box with vent controls to control cool air flow in the glove compartment. All instruments and controls are designed unique and very user friendly. Power and acceleration is unmatched from any car Ive driven; 500 horses really make a difference! The roar of the turbo engine when starting up is music to my ears. Extreamly solid vehicle, Porsche builds a quality product. The ride is superb and not one single rattle in 4 years! The leather interior has held up so well it almost appears that it has not been used.Navigation system is not that great and you can not move the map around to see what lies up ahead easily. Lack of bluetooth and having to remove your sim from your phone to insert it in the dashboard, in order to make the onboard phone work is a nuisance.Nov 15, 2012

The exterior remodel of the cayenne with addition of direct fuel injection really made this year model stand out. Developing 500 hp and 520ftlbs of tq, this is the most powerful SUV on the planet. After a few weeks with this car I can say that this is the best SUV by far. People who always talk about BMW X5 and its road capabilities should drive one of these. It's a completely different league than any SUV. Yes I was shocked when Porsche introduced an SUV, but then I drove one, and completely changed my mind. Performance combined with handling make this car genuine Porsche. It's not the best looking car, but who cares?!
If you're buying one don't get the 3.6 V6, that's just an engine from VW, which makes it only a Touareg in a nicer package, and that totally kills the "magic" of this car. If you have some extra cash to spend go for the GTS (it looks fabulous in the nordic gold) but GTS package kills the off road capabilities, which some people may wanna use. If you want something special go for the Turbo S, don't get the Turbo. The price difference isn't huge and for that little extra you get the most powerful Porsche on the market. But if you want to use it every day, the S is the best combination of fun and rationality.

not for the faint hearted if u dont like speed then this is not the family 4x4 for u . its interior is well made and luxurious and there are many unique specifications that can cater to your every need. it also has plenty of room for the whole family there luggage and the dog. however the front end of the car still needs work and it lets down the overall appearence of car but this is more than made up for by that huge growl that comes from the bi-turbo 4.8lr v8 and the sports exhaust package is greatMar 28, 2008

The Cayenne, Porsche's cash cow, didn't really impress me.
It has an amazing sound, great building quality and a good engine, but it never grabs you.
The looks aren't what you'd call beautiful and the performance also wasn't what you'd
expect from a Porsche.
Inside, everything is very Volkswagen and not very Porsche, but that's also a good thing
actually.
If you're looking for a 6-cil SUV, I'd recommend the X5. Not as bling as a Cayenne, but it
offers the same building quality combined with better performance. Even the diesel!
