The 2022 Porsche Cayenne is in the fourth year of its third generation, which launched for the 2019 model year. The Cayenne is a four-door mid-sized luxury crossover based on the Volkswagen Group’s MLB platform, which also underpins the Volkswagen Touareg, the Audi Q7, the Audi Q8, the Bentley Bentayga, and the Lamborghini Urus. The Cayenne S and S Platinum Edition trims have a 2.9-liter twin-turbocharged V6 putting out 434 hp and 406 lb-ft of torque. The Cayenne GTS includes a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that produces 453 hp and 457 lb-ft of torque. The Cayenne Turbo uses a 542-hp version of the twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8, which develops 468 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the Cayenne Turbo GT has a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 that develops 631 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. All Cayenne trim levels come standard with all-wheel drive (AWD), and all of the vehicles have an eight-speed ZF 8HP automatic transmission with a Tiptronic manual shift mode. The Turbo GT trim is an all-new offering for the 2022 model year. Standard features revisions for 2022 include Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, forward-collision warning, and forward automatic emergency braking. Color options are trim-dependent. Two basic colors (white and black) are $0 options. Six metallic colors are available for an additional $800, while three “special colors” are offered for $3,150, and a custom color match option adds $11,430. At the high end, the metallic colors are $0 options on the GT, while special colors and a custom color match add the same price as on the lower trims. The 2022 Porsche Cayenne starts at $69,000 MSRP. The Cayenne Platinum Edition starts at $79,000, Cayenne S at $86,800, and Cayenne S Platinum Edition at $93,400. The Cayenne GTS, meanwhile, has a base price of $109,000, while the Cayenne Turbo starts at $129,900 and the Cayenne Turbo GT at $180,800.
