The Sable sedan re-enters Mercury's lineup for 2008 as a replacement for the Montego, and in fact is essentially a rebadged and updated version of the Montego. Exterior styling updates include a new grille and front bumper, dual chrome exhaust tips, projector-beam headlamps, redesigned LED taillamps, integrated turn signal markers at either end of the front bumper, 17-inch seven-spoke bright aluminum wheels, and a satin finish on the sideview mirrors and door handles.
The satin-finish look continues inside to the steering wheel spokes and shifter knob. Other new components in the Sable's interior include a new instrument panel cluster with clean, easy-to-read dials, new interior colors and textures, and an available Premium wood package.
Power for the 2008 Sable is provided by a new 3.5-liter V6 engine linked to a six-speed automatic transmission. An All-Wheel-Drive system is available as an option.
Safety features for the 2008 Sable include six standard airbags (front, front-side, and a Safety Canopy system with a rollover sensor), an available AdvanceTrac system with Electronic Stability Control, and a Reverse Sensing System, which alerts drivers when backing up if objects are behind the vehicle.
As with many 2008 models, the Sable is equipped with a standard MP3 audio input jack. Optional entertainment features include Sirius satellite radio, a 320-watt, seven-speaker Audiophile stereo system, and a rear-seat DVD entertainment system.
A power moonroof, power heated front seats, power-adjustable pedals, and a voice-activated, DVD-based navigation system with a 6.5-inch color screen are also available as options.

A low mileage car plagued with electrical issues - sunroof, seat hater, power window. I expected parts to be easier to source (dealer unable to source parts). So, a disappointment.Apr 07, 2022

Using the 6 cd player is great on long trips.
Car is the best ever, when you upgrade from Ford models there is a big difference!
Fold down rear seat opens up trunk area so you can haul anything you need to haul.
Try one and see for yourself.
Thanks.Nov 17, 2012

Love this car 100%- this car rides extremely smooth, no road noise and can barely feel bumps, the tires are massive which adds to it's smooth ride. The one thing I love is it heats up in a matter of min even on the coldest days, the heated seats don't hurt either. The car is solid, doesn't feel cheap at all. Great gas mileage for the size of car. Tons of interior room, large trunk space. all the options you could ever need. This is my 2nd Sable and if they made it in a convertible I'd buy another one in a heart beat. Jan 18, 2011

Bought this vehicle new. I'm very satisfied with it. It has a 263hp V6 engine with 265lbs of torque. The car looks nice and style inside is great. Leather seats, heated seats and mirrors, very nice sound system, and 18" wheels.Nov 19, 2010

this has to be the second best sable of all time just behind the '04 platinum edition, with AWD and a 3.5 Duratec v6 this thing is a rocket, with over 265 hp and identical tq, this beast charges to 60 in an impressive 6.3 seconds with a 6 speed transmission it can easily cope with cruising speeds of 85+ with ease, adverse weather condition are no match for this sable, with all the tq at each wheel wet pavement doesn't stand a chance, if you want one you better start looking this car is a bound future classic, low production numbers make this sable a rare breed Nov 17, 2009

I have just purchased a Mercury Sable.. in Canada, where we haven't seen Mercurys, new, for several years. The Ford dealers are bringing up U.S. Taurus Limiteds and Sable Premiers and selling them, lightly used, on their lots at discounts waaaay below the price of comparable Canadian Taurus.
This reinforces the view, no matter which car it is, that North American manufacturers are giving their cars away. They look desperate. This has to be reversed, and not by any smoke and mirrors method, but by offering cars that reflect clear and positive thinking about what a vehicle should be, and making the right design choices in regards to that.
I have owned many Taurus and one Sable over the years; they always have been decent enough road cars. Until now I have never had that special attachment to them... but this new Sable reminds me of a Merkur Scorpio I owned once that I loved dearly, as it was a PERFECT blend of true grit, road manners, handling and sumptuous, but not unnecessary, luxury in a larger sedan. The new Sable almost has all of that... it is one tweak away from perfection.
Next year will be FoMoCo’s decision time, that being forced on them by declining large car sales and a need to compete or get out. With the restyling of the Taurus along the lines of the Mondeo, Ford has a wonderful chance to bring performance into this line, something that is keeping buyers away. It wouldn’t take much... make the car about 250 pounds lighter, dial up the quality of the suspension to Autobahn standards, take that nice six speed tranny and let us play with the torque curve so we can actually DRIVE the car, tune the steering a touch... they are ALMOST there. Oh, and twin turbo options or even diesel…. all in the same car with a vareity of engine choices.
Offer gas mileage consumption variations on it from 23 right on up to 45 mpg.
Consolidate away, keep the Sable or let it go, I don’t really care, but just FOCUS on the core product so intently, from a design and customer satisfaction point of view, that it becomes an instant word beater. Ford can do it if they try... and this new platform, restyled and trimmed for 2010, perfected, can take them there if they want.

Replace 2 actuators already. On driver's side there is 1 actuator opposite the passenger side one thru glove box another.(REPLACED) I found a slotted white knob that when switched or turned with screwdriver...SWITCHES to defrost on dash. There is NO BOX THERE! Is one supposed to go OVER that piece? Is there another spot where there is one HIGHER in dash on driver's side? Please help. Thank you!
Noticed low tire on my car and had AAA tow it to be checked and will be back later today ....told person buying car from me but has not responded to setting up test drive What do I do? There are 3 others interested. If he is not he should say something.
