The 2008 Honda S2000 remains virtually unchanged except for the addition of an aggressive big brother. Built and tuned for performance, the roadster gets 237 hp with its 2.2-liter inline four-cylinder and 6-speed manual transmission.
The big news for 2008 is the arrival of the limited-edition S2000 CR. With Honda producing fewer than 2000, the target market for this Club Racer trim is track-driving enthusiasts. Using the same engine as the other trims, the CR features a more rigid track-oriented suspension, with stiffer shocks and dampers, a lower ride height, more rigid chassis, larger stabilizer bars, and a huge aerodynamic rear spoiler to improve overall performance and responsiveness. The soft-top convertible is replaced by a hard top to allow it to qualify for track entry. Standard features such as air conditioning and the CD player have been removed to reduce overall weight by 90 pounds, and the suede upholstery provides better seating grip.
The regular 2008 S2000 itself is hard to ignore and receives a new wheel design, improved dampers and springs, and some updates to the dash gauges. Leather seats, an alloy shifter, and cruise control are standard. All trims come with dual front airbags, ABS brakes, traction and stability control, and 17-inch wheels with performance tires. If you don't care about fuel economy or cargo room, the 2008 S2000 now offers something for every type of driving enthusiast, whether you're looking for a weekend roadster or a true track racer.

If youre a fan of purist sport cars then youll get it. None of the modern electronic nannies to intervene, save the vsa (Honda vehicle stability control) that can be turned off. Solid car when you find an intact/well cared for example. Honda VTEC fans will get it. This car is happy in the upper regions of the rev band and youll know when the VTEC kicks in. Love this car for what it was built for. Pure sports car. Dislike the hard top roof. Rattles and is a pain to put on or remove. Paint is easily scratched. On an autocross course it is awesome. This is a fun car to drive for an afternoon through upstate NY. Small trunk and lots of road noise make it difficult to drive long distances.Nov 04, 2010

Ok well at first glance it is the deffinition of a roadster. Preformance wise it loves the twisties. Find a good road course and fall in love. It could use a little more power but its deffintly not lacking. It is a extreamly reliable car as you still see many AP1's on the road and they are up to 9 years old now and most who own S2K's like to play. Gas milage isnt great but who cares, i mean come on is that what you would by this car for is gas milage. Pure and simple this is a drivers car that rewards you the more you push the envelope.Aug 02, 2009

Personally... I still want Higher RPM like the first Gen S2K F20C...would like to see the 9000rpm on a F22C...Superior Handling on this thing, if not raining... Breaks feel OK but still have room to improve...Dislike the Convertable top...making noise when u go thro a bump, if possible go for hard top...body style pretty sexy to attract females for a ride...F1 type control panel setup around the steering wheel and push start engine button...Energy Bar style digital OD meter--tight!! Gas mileage is OK 18/22/20(combo)...Engine Oil I prefer Mobile 1 all the way and don't forget to check Rear Diff Oil too... I love to drive it...Jul 19, 2009

Where do i start?! This car is every man's dream. Or at least, if that man loves performance. Every racer knows that less weight is best weight and this car weighs practically nothing. At 2800 lbs, it produces 237 horses and 165 lb/ft of torque at the flywheel. That about 200-210 wheel horse power and about 140 wheel torque. It may not seem a lot but because this car weighs so little, it can rocket to 60mph at 5 seconds flat if you're a good shifter. It also finishes the 1/4 mile in 14 seconds flat. Again if you are a good shifter. The great thing about the s2k is that its an all around performer. This thing is great on a straight but to unleash its full potential, you need a nice winding road. This is where the high rpms and light bodywork come in handy. The CR's slalom speed was 71.4 mph and did the 200 ft skidpad at .99 g's!! Consider this, one of the s2k's main rivals is the Lotus Elise. Priced at $55,000, this car is practically a track-only car. But compared to the CR, it shows very similar numbers. The Elise's slalom being 72mph and skidpad exactly the same. Performance wise, the Elise zips to 60 in 4.5 seconds due to the even lighter weight. Overall, the s2k is in its own class. It can run in straight lines with heavyweights and it'll dust everything unmodified in corners. Luckily for us, the CR comes out the factory as a ready made track-car. All the suspension parts stiffened to take corners harder. The fun factor is a 15 out of 10. Not only do you get the looks from everyone around you, but you get the handling of a go-kart! Handled like a charm...drove like a true sports car...road noise wasnt to bad...and the body lines are clearly amazing. Motor was very clean looking. Not to much trunk space but who needs one when you buy a 2dr coupe convertable. Keep it coming honda doing good so far!!!Jul 21, 2008

The beauty of this car lies within its suspension. All movements initiated by subtle hints guided through your fingertips to the steering wheel is felt within the body and motion of this vehicle. Pure 163 ft-lb of torque felt at 6800 RPM puts plenty of rubber and asphalt behind you. The only thing lacking...curvy mountain roads in Florida...maybe it's time for a move.Jul 09, 2008

Owned this car for a few weeks so far and I'm loving every minute of it. I didn't think I would enjoy a convertible, but it's actually one of the most enjoyable car's I don't want to get out of especially when I'm out on the road doing some spirited driving in the mountains or just cruising on a nice sunny day.
Engine sounds absolutely great when you're up in the higher rpm's w/the top down. Not only does it sound great, but it's got a good amount of torque from past Honda's I've driven over the past few years.
Radio isn't very feature rich or with the times. There's your basic display that shows you what you need to know and all, but thing that really grinds my gears is that it can't play any MP3's. It's 2008 and almost all the new cars can play MP3's standard except this.
Cabin and trunk space leave much to be desired. It's a convertible what do you expect? If I wanted room then I would have drove the family van or four door, but when I want to have fun driving I'll take this anytime of the week. Mar 29, 2008

The engine block cracked
The engine block cracked and my options are to replace the block but not the top end. The other option is to replace the entire engine with a used one that has 70,000 miles on it. Mine currently has 88,000. Does anyone have experience with the reliability of just changing out the block and keeping the old top end.
