This heavy-duty three-quarter ton pickup, with best-in-class towing and acceleration, adds a new trim and some extra features this year. The SXT joins the lineup of the 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500, falling in between the base ST and SLT. It upgrades from the work-truck like air conditioning and CD player of the ST to power features, remote entry, and a chrome bumper. The SLT features cruise control and a trip computer, while the Laramie offers power leather seats, power pedals, and a 6-CD player. For 2008, the Laramie gets wood accents. A Power Wagon is aimed at off-road performance, with skid plates, all-terrain tires, electronic front and rear locking differential and sway bar, and a 12,000-pound winch.
Other additions include a standard tire monitor, larger 7 X 10-inch trailer mirrors, and an electronic shift transfer case for both the SLT and Laramie 4X4s.
There are three cab styles for the 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500. Regular cabs seat two in one row and come only with an 8-foot pickup bed, and is offered for all trims but the Laramie. The Quad is available across the line and seats four in two rows, with a choice of 8-foot or 6.3-foot bed. The Mega Cab focuses on passenger comfort, seating six in two rows, with reclining rear seats and 44 inches of legroom. The drawback is that it's only offered with the shorter bed and only in SLT and Laramie trims.
Standard engine remains the 345-hp 5.7-liter, Hemi V8 with choice of 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic. It excels in towing capability, topping 13,000 pounds. An optional 352-hp, 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel makes the 2500 the only heavy-duty pickup to meet 2010 federal low emissions standards. It is paired with a 6-speed automatic and has a towing capacity of 15,600 pounds. All trims are available in either rear-wheel or all-wheel drive. Owners love the towing power, durability, and smooth transmission of the 2008 Dodge Ram Pickup 2500. Interior comfort is also praised, though the step-in height can be tricky. Poor fuel economy is the most notable complaint, with some mention of a bumpy ride and a tendency for rear-wheel skidding.

What owners say
"Overall, owners of the 2008 Dodge RAM 2500 appreciate its strong performance and quality, particularly noting its horsepower and towing capability. Many drivers also enjoy the good fuel mileage for a truck of its size and the ride comfort. However, some drawbacks were mentioned, such as issues with rust, interior cleanliness, and the price being seen as high for the vehicle's condition. Additionally, while the performance is praised, a few drivers found it lacking in comfort and towing capacity compared to expectations."
All good drives solid , good for heavy machinery
April 26, 2021Towing is moderate on this truck. Keeping in mind it is not diesel, it should not be held to those towing expecations. With a little tender driving this truck can meet most towing needs of the weekend warriors. However, be prepaired for some MPG shock and don't pass up too many fuel stops as pulling a 5th wheel or like weighted trailers can lower milage into the single digits.
June 28, 2012impossable to go back to a 1500 , truck rides like a truck , pure old school bull bar , pia lights , stereo , amps , subs , gps . tonneau , blacked out cab lights chrome step bar 10,000 lb winch , a blast to drive winter or summer

April 2, 2010hemi power what can i say beautiful truck , looked really good drove good awesome fuel mileage. except the color( little bold for me ) was very good had fun 4 by 4 with it. smooth ride lots of power yes yes.
September 21, 2010What I like about this truck is the quality and the performance of this truck. The performance is very good for the horspower and torque. The quality is good its lasting good throughout this winter. The cost is very good and the gas mileage is awesome!!
December 16, 2008Overall a fantastic truck. With enough horsepower to pull down a house and get the mileage of a 1/2 ton truck. I do wish the back seats were bigger and the front seats were a little more comfortable. Well built truck.
October 16, 2012sweet good in the mudding kind of hard on fuel but then i have lots of power adders and 37' tires on it and it still a good ride i love taking it off road its fun! need i say more lol
February 26, 2009trucks gets great fuel mileage for wat it weghts. pulls great, and with my juice w attitude its hauls. wish my payment was lower, bute its worth it. truck is a blast to drive. Just wish it didnt have all the emissions
September 29, 2009I love having my truck back. So long crappy Caliber. A little stiff, but once you get used to driving a real truck its great. The suspension is very stiff and pot holes could potentialy becomes enemies as they will throw you into oncoming traffic if your unprepared. Gas milage sucks, but do you expect from a hemi.
September 7, 2008The vehicle had too much rust , interior was not clean n had minor body issues. Think the price range was to expensive for the vehicles condition
