Cadillac added two special edition XLR's for 2007: the Ultra-luxury Platinum and Passion Red. Both have 18 inch wheels and add extra shine to the popular sports coupe convertible. Cadillac also retains the higher-octane XLR-V from 2006. The base XLR uses a 4.6 L, 320 hp V8 engine with new 6 speed automatic transmission.
The XLR gets you 17 mpg in the city, 27 mpg on the highway. Standard features include power windows, power door locks, leather seats, power seats, cd player, navigation system, ABS brakes, traction control, and stability control. Cargo space comes out to 11.6 cubic feet with the top up, 4.4 with the top down on this 2 door, 2 seat coupe.
Overall, drivers still enjoy the smooth handling and powerful engine that the 2007 Cadillac XLR offers. Some reviewers would like to see the popular convertible develop a bolder appearance to appeal to a younger crowd. Others wonder whether the rising price tag matches the available features. Regardless, Cadillac has some work to do in justifying its wide acclaim and continuing its ascent to the top of the market.
