2006 Aston Martin V8 Vantage Preview summaryImage

Introduced in 2006, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is, quite simply, one of the most desirable cars in the world. Hand-crafted from the ground up and with a price tag somewhere north of $100,000, the two-seat exotic sports car was built in a limited number of just 2,000 in its first year, ensuring its exclusivity. Those lucky enough to get their hands on one will no doubt be master of the road, thanks to a muscular, smooth-skinned, ultra-sleek exterior design and a luxury interior befitting one of the world's finest cars.

As far as its design is concerned, the V8 Vantage borrowed styling elements from the iconic DB9, but if anything the V8 Vantage is sleeker and even more dynamic than the DB9. Exterior design elements include a low stance, minimal front and rear overhangs, a skin of lightweight alloy and advanced composites, the distinctive Aston Martin metal mesh grille, stylish side strakes, and a long hood with the Aston Martin wings emblem near the nose.

Under that hood is the soul of the V8 Vantage, a 4.3-liter V8 engine that produces 380 horsepower. The engine sits behind the front axle but ahead of the passenger cabin (officially a front mid-engine layout), providing the V8 Vantage with unique sports-car balance, handling, and stability. With its V8, the Vantage can leap from 0 to 60 in just over five seconds.

Interior features include hand-stitched leather seats, an aluminum instrument panel with three-dimensional gauges, an organic electroluminescent (OEL) central message display, a glass starter button, power-adjustable front seats, a premium stereo system with a six-disc CD changer, and automatic climate control.

Of course, the V8 Vantage also comes with a full range of safety features, including traction control, stability control, and dual-stage front airbags, as well as side airbags. The V8 Vantage even comes with a full set of luggage, which fits neatly into the rear cargo space, accessible via the car's rear hatchback.

What can I say... the image, the design (danish btw), the feel, the sound, the whole package. This is a great car in so many ways that no other car comes close. As a sports car.. I mean really, really fast and agile and beating the competition, it lacks some, but me personally I don't give a sh... This car is so sweet to own, to drive and to look at and the 20 minutes I drove 280km/h+ in Germany was great, but absolutely unrealistic as a daily event, so I never felt I needed a Porsche GT2, a Dodge Viper or and Masserati.. even if they overtook me on the Autobahn... You see they needed to show me they could to show the only advantage they have, whereas I felt like a class above all.... and I would rather not have any cars around me and open the window, drive through a tunnel and listen..... to the greatest sound track ever. Believe me, the biggest frustration about the Elbe tunnel in Hamburg or the 8 km tunnel in Thuringen, is the rev limit possibility.... Me and my cousin did a lot of 20km/h to 100km/h in second gear just to hear the music.... After this experience, the only thing to do was to enjoy another danish "international" product, and that was to drink a bottle of Flor de Pingus wine from Ribeira, Spain..Feb 12, 2009

Amazing Engine Sound.. and Beautiful... Just beautiful... Unfortunately.. you can tell Aston Martin is owned (was) by Ford... Build quality Appalling for a 117k EUR car. I had problems with central locking, trim coming off.. but wind the window down and open the throttle... you forget the rest... I havent tried the paddle shift though.. this was a manual.. Always wanted an Aston, always wanted to drive an Aston and used to hate people saying it was a Mondeo because of the window switches. I have now driven a few and they are true drivers cars. The sound is so fast as any speed. Not too sure about the use of the Volvo interior, he climate control, the CD player, the Satnav, same as a lot of the Volvo range. The killed it for me. Still a great car but made cheap. Dont believe me, try an Volvo S80 and compare dashes.Aug 15, 2008
