The Buick LeSabre holds several notable distinctions. As Buick's entry level full-size sedan (just a notch below the Park Avenue), the LeSabre is both the number one selling car in its class in America for the last 12 years, but also the longest-lasting and only surviving name from a Buick sedan lineup that was introduced back in 1959. After 47 years on America's highways, the LeSabre bids farewell at the end of 2005.
As such, there are minor changes to the 2005 Buick LeSabre, consisting mainly of OnStar now being standard on all three of the LeSabre trims -- Custom, Limited, and Celebration Edition. The Celebration Edition is a holdover from 2003, and adds on to the luxury-oriented Limited with a heads-up display, mirrors with turn signals, standard 16-inch wheels, two-tone leather, and StabiliTrak. All LeSabres come with self-leveling rear suspension, ABS brakes, dual front airbags, power features, power driver's seat, and cruise control. The Limited adds traction control, side impact bags, leather seats, memory settings, and dual-zone climate control. A 205-hp, 3.8 DOHC V6 and 4-speed automatic provides for a smooth, yet powerful ride in both city and highway.
There are lots of nice options, such as a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, and heated seats and mirrors, that drive the 2005 LeSabre up into luxury sedan prices. Standard seats are bench, to accommodate up to six people, but front bucket seats can be substituted. Owners say they are sad to see the LeSabre go, as it has provided them with a steady dependability over the years, smooth comfort, and easy handling. Gas mileage is commendable for a full-size, and the trunk space (18 cubic feet) is ample for lots of luggage. There are few complaints about the 2005 LeSabre, and these are mostly to do with what it lacks: no fold-down rear seats and no seatback pockets.

I love my car! This is the 4th Buick Le Sabre limited I have owned and driven. It holds the road and delivers a smooth ride. I feel safe in it and the sound system with all its speakers is terrific. I tried some other models but they did not work for me.

the lesabre is unique...it has 6 cylinders, but gets 28 mpg on the highway...its trunk is 19 cu. ft!!....its leather or cloth seats are very comfortable for long trips.....very sturdy and stable, good suspension and shocks....transmission is a bit of a weak spot; all of my lesabres have needed tranny work....window regulators are also suspect, chances are 1 will break before 75,000 miles......engine is bullet proof, overall driving comfort is highNov 04, 2021

This LeSable Ltd is a very nice car. I believe it has every available option for the 2005 model. The only comparative vehicle in my opinion would be the Toyota Avalon and I would be hard-pressed to favor either one. They are both excellent vehicles. Jun 02, 2021

Car looks fairly modern for being ten years old. Being a large sedan it couldn't be any more comfortable. Sitting inside of it is like relaxing at home in your lazy boy. Its quite even at high speed and when your parked you can barley tell its on. Never had problems with the mechanical side of it however the electronics seemed to fail after awhile but they were easy fixes. Gas mileage for a v6 competed with today cars especially on the highway.Jan 05, 2015

Our 2005 Buick Lesabre has good power, and the mileage is fairly good, about 24 mpg, However, some things are starting to fall apart. The instrument panel gauges are totally bogus, so we do not have speedometer, heat gauge, or fuel level. We use odometer to tell us when to fill up again. We use a GPS for speed. The AC condensation drain is clogged and dumps clear water on passenger feet. The enginge heat sensor has failed, so fan doesn't come on. We can unplug it, and then fan runs constantly, but this gives an engine service warning.May 10, 2014

I like Buick products as they have always been dependable, affordable, comfortable and roomy for both front and rear passengers and this LeSabre is no exception. I would recommend any Buick for comfort, roominess, reasonable repairs if needed, and handling. This is my second Buick, had a 1986 Buick Century till we sold it and was very happy with it as well. my car is comfortable and smooth. It is good for long drives, but its kind of slow. It came stock with sattelite radip and on star it has optional wheels so no crappy hub cap it is top speed goverend at 104 mph this is with out a doubt. I tried to go faster.

Unless you happen to be riding in the back seat, which is subpar for a full size sedan. The short cushions severely compromise comfort. Fuel Economy is excellent, and acceleration is adequate. The ride is very smooth and the car is quiet at cruise. The engine sounds somewhat thrashy while accelerating it or at idle. Fit and finish is pretty low grade in this sedan. This is clearly a low point of GM vehicles in the late 90s early 2000s.
Overall, I think its a reliable and sound choice. But don't except much excellence from this car. It does the job, but not much more.Mar 20, 2008

Tapping noise
I got the car back from the mechanic after they repaired the intake manifold and the fuel pump. Ever since, there is a tapping noise when you start the vehicle and it continues until the car reaches about 40mph or I lift my foot of the gas pedal. It is worse when it is cold outside. The car works fine otherwise, there has been no overheating, trouble driving it or check engine lights coming on. Not sure of what the problem is or how concerned I should be. This car has about 98000 miles.
