Though it looks much the same on the outside, the 2000 Buick LeSabre gets a new Park Avenue platform, safety enhancements, and interior updates. The number one selling full-size sedan in the U.S., the LeSabre adds an inch to its wheelbase, though retaining its overall length. This adds more interior room and better performance stability. It also gets standard side impact bags and new front passenger head restraints. Front and rear fascias get tweaked, with new clear headlights, and inside, the dash is more contoured and sports larger gauges and controls. Outside, the dowdy chrome door handles are replaced with sleeker body-colored ones. Even the trunk gets an extra cubic foot of space
The 2000 LeSabre comes in Custom and Limited trims, both featuring two rows of bench seats. In this setup, the roomy sedan can seat six, though front bucket seats are optional on the Limited. Rear seats do not fold down, but there is a trunk pass-through on the Limited. A 3.8-liter, 205-hp V6 engine and 4-speed auto tran power the 2000 LeSabre, and torque peaks at a lower rpm this year. Standard features include dual front airbags, ABS brakes, daytime running lights, cruise control, and power features. Keyless entry is new this year. Upgrading to the Limited gets you wood trim, automatic headlights, auto-dimming mirrors, an alarm system, heads-up display, power seats, and power outlets. New options for the 2000 LeSabre include a sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, and a 12-CD changer. Traction and stability control, leather seats, and a Gran Touring package with a stiffer suspension and bigger wheels are also extra.
Buick's consumers have always been an older crowd, but the newly restyled 2000 LeSabre hopes to attract young families looking for safety, comfort, and lots of space. Drivers say the car handles smoothly, with confident power and decent 20/31 mpg. Seats are comfortable for long trips. Some wish a V8 was offered. The biggest problem with the 2000 LeSabre is failure of the power window regulator. Almost everyone has had to get this repaired.

The car was purchased at a auction. Engine light came on. After spending $9000.00. Now the engine tuns over but will not start. So over this. If replacing the starter and still wont start. Off to the junk yard. Body looks great . enterior as well. Nice to look at but wont start.Feb 13, 2022

This car is built for big people and tall people. It gives you enough space to spread out. Great smooth ride. I am looking for a 2005 celebration edition, as this is the very last loaded lesabre that GM made. GM made a stupid move getting rid of the Lesabre. it is a great car.Oct 01, 2014

this car was easy to learn and it was so comfortable as far as driving long distances. I need more cargo space, as I have a small child. the couple of times I did have it in for repairs it was only normal wear and tear such as rotating and balancing tires, oil changes, and once I had to spend a little more ($500) to replace the wheel hub assembly. but this service is one that any vehicle would need after driving so many milesMay 03, 2013

This is a great car. I just bought another for daughter. The ride is comfortable but suspension needs stiffening up (in the works). I will be making a sleeper and will be upgrading the exhaust, suspension, motor and brakes. I am well pleased with the interior and exterior styling. The dash is starting to curl up on both LeSabres and I will attempt to recover them both ( cant look any worse than it is).Apr 24, 2013

Because it is a "newer" car, the parts are quite a bit more expensive to buy. Unlike my other 3 trucks, which are '94 and older. Plus, it is a little harder to work on than my other vehicles are.Jun 01, 2012

Bought this car three years ago with 65,000 miles on it. It now has 105,700 miles and still runs smoothly. Have had to replace plenum, but that is all. Large enough storage, I can move my daughter 6 hours away to college in it. Update 2013: Was in an accident with this car, it totaled the front end of it and I came out of it with a bruised wrist from the airbag. Went right out and got another LeSabre, a 2001 this time. The car that I drove shows the endurance of GM in an era where GM was not known for endurance. The car has over 208,000 miles. It has had its problems over those miles but nothing to serious. You dont buy this car for performance but then again it wasnt built for that. Nov 02, 2011

Let me be frank, this car's build quality is about the only thing it has going for it. It handles like a large freighter and has a turning radius larger than most houses. It looks like an "old woman's car," but this only after realizing that it is actually an old man's car that is usually driven by the aforementioned old mans' widowed wives. To give you an idea about how bad this car looks, out of an average score of 100 on a theft rating, where over 100 is more likely to be stolen than average and below 100 is less likely, the Buick LeSabre rates an astonishing 1. Quite a thirsty car (at most 21.3 mpg) that has one good feature if you can call it that. It handles as well on snow as you are at driving on snow. This is because the ABS system could care less about actually working and decides it is going to let the driver handle anything the road may throw at it. It is very solidly built and seemingly immune to any large rust spots.Dec 23, 2010

I got my Buick with over 200,000 miles on it. Of course right away a couple of sensors (crank trigger and emission) needed replaced, but at that point it's to be expected. As long as I'd drive highway (2-lane or 4) she'll get 28+ mpg, even with all those miles. We've replaced alot of the common "wear" parts in the first year, but it still beats trying to finance half a car at 4 times the money. I can stand on it and know she's gonna blast off!!Aug 18, 2010

This is my Grandma's car, which she bought new in 2000 and has driven just over 26,000 miles as of 2008. I actually do not remember if I drove this car or not. I may have, but not sure. It has all available options except the sunroof and trunk-mounted 12-disc CD changer. The acceleration is good, and the car is very smooth and efficient. The handling is what you would expect from a Buick, floaty and rather unresponsive, but the car is very safe and easy to handle. In terms of appearance, it is a beautiful car, and inside it is very elegant and luxurious. There is lots of cargo space, and there is room for 6 people. It even has rear air-conditioning vents. The car is very reliable and dependable, but it does have a few electric gremlins. The power window motors have broken numerous times, once while the window was partially down, the radio had to be replaced because the cassette player ate my car kit adaptor, and the ducting for the rear vents always come loose. While it blows ice cubes, the A/C is very noisy, my dad says it is comparable to a Cessna.Jul 21, 2008

The mileage on the highway is awesomeon this car. 150,000 miles, no tune up and still 28 mpg. That's with a bad transmission!! I have spent about $150 on it in two years, and 70000 miles. It stinks to drive right now, but once it's fixed, it will do much better.Jul 09, 2008

My car cranks and runs for 2 seconds, then shuts itself back off. What might be the problem?
I've replaced alternator, mass airflow sensor, and pcm. It all started when the alternator went out. Replaced it the drove it bout 30 miles the it shut itself off, well killed the engine. Still had accessories power. Try to crank it and it shut itself back off. Put a code scanner on it and it was saying mass airflow sensor, replaced it. Reset the code. It went about 5 miles and shut itself down again. Checked it again, it said the same. Before I took that part back we checked fuel pressure, it was at 50psi, checked coils, coil plate, and wires,all of which was replaced bout 3 mths ago. Another friend of mine said it might be the security system so we checked and reset it. He confered with one of his friends and they said it was the pcm, so I replaced it and went through the whole security setup again. Car is still doing the same. Cranks, runs for bout 2 sec then shuts the engine down. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2000 Buick LeSabre Custom
My vehicle has the battery under the rear passenger seat. I've been told I need to get a new VENTED BATTERY soon as mine is old. I cant even find a "vented battery", online, for my car. Never even heard of such a thing till today. Ive also been told it will be extremely costly in the $300 - $400 range. I haul kids around a lot, im a taxi gramma(haul grandkids a lot)..lol, and I just want to be safe. Do I really need a vented battery? If so, where in heck do i get one? Thanks in advance!

Shimmy and vibration while accelerating / under load
My 2000 Buick LeSabre vibrates / shimmy's while under load. I have been chasing this for some time. I have read extensively on the problem and spend much cash trying to resolve. So far the following has been accomplished. New tires / balance, tune up new plugs / wires, all 4 motor / transmission mounts replaced, both CV drive axels replaced. Struts have less than 5K miles. Lower control arms have been inspected satisfactory. Inner and outer tie rods inspected satisfactory, front and rear brakes overhauled. Transmission 2x Shift Solenoids, EPC Solenoid, TCC (Lockup) Solenoid, Manifold Pressure Switch replaced. Transmission filer and 6 quts of fluid replaced. After all this, it is as if none of this maintenance accomplished a single thing. The engine is tight, no misfired or codes. It still vibrates / shimmy's. At this point, I'm about to cut this thing up into little pieces. I believe it has to be the transmission at this point. Suggestions are welcomed as I am at wits end.
