Write a reviewAn affordable Cadillac is how some owners describe the 2001 Buick LeSabre, due to its roomy cabin and trunk, smooth and quiet ride, and long list of interior creature comforts. For 2001, the LeSabre is little changed, after a redesign in 2000. It does get new dual-stage deploying airbags, furthering improving upon its 5-star crash test ratings, thanks to dual front and side airbags and improved head restraints. OnStar is now standard in the high-end Limited trim and optional in the base Custom. The Custom also now gets a power driver's seat.
The front-wheel drive 2001 LeSabre is a full-size sedan one step below the Park Avenue in terms of luxury. Available in Custom and Limited styles, it is powered by a smooth and powerful 205-hp, 3.8-liter V6 engine and 4-speed automatic. ABS brakes, an alarm system, automatic headlights, daytime running lights, cruise control, and full power features are standard on the Custom, while the Limited offers auto-dimming rearview mirror, power front seats, wood trim, dual-zone climate control, and power outlets for cell phones and laptops. The cabin seats six, though five would be most comfortable. The front bench seat can be replaced with bucket seats in the Limited. The large trunk offers up to 18 cubic feet of cargo space, definitely big enough for a couple golf bags.
Aimed at an older, more sophisticated driver, the 2001 LeSabre glides comfortably on both city and highway roads. Drivers like the fuel economy, V6 power, and roomy front seat, though they say the backseat is surprisingly short on legroom. On the downside, they do report rattling and wind noise and feel the LeSabre should come with better tires. Buick has not yet fixed the problem with the power windows, and this remains the number one repair for 2001 LeSabre owners.

I don't care much for leather seats, cold in the winter and hot in the summer. Seems like the driver's seat heater doesn't last a long time in these cars. Overall, still an great driving car. approximately 30 mph on highway. Apr 15, 2015

This is the second Buick that I have owned, and I was very satisfied with both of them. I would recommend this car or any Buick to own. The car have given me 23-25 city and 30-33 highway miles per gallon.May 29, 2014

I love everything about the car. It treated me good for 4 years. its a classic car. I had to fix the power windows on the passenger side one time. Its still running smooth after 213,000 miles. not much to complain about. overall very reliable.Feb 22, 2014

This Buick is like a Cadillac. It rides well and is very quiet on the highway. The automatic trunk pop is a real blessing at the grocery. You just push the remote button and it opens... then you can put the groceries directly into the trunk. Mar 04, 2013

good american car 3.8ltr v6 is a strong motor with a great reputation for reliability.
a good car for a starting a family not a blast to drive but not a slouch either its an
all round grown up car that is nice looking and smooth to drive

This car has been just OK for us. We replaced the transmission at 120,000 miles and just replaced the battery after 10 years. After 130.000 miles it has begun to have a valve lifter noise on cold start-up. I am hoping that it does not get any worse. It uses about a 1/2 quart of oil every 1000 miles which is not bad for the age of the car.
2014 update - sold the car with 175000 miles on it. It was still running OK but I was worried about its reliability.Sep 15, 2011

Just bought it used, 49k miles! I needed a reliable backup vehicle and got a lot of car for the money! This vehicle has like new leather seats, dual power seats, dual climate control, power everything, cavernous trunk and traditional styling..not flashy but gets me where I need to go comfortably!Jul 28, 2011

This car was purchased as a fluke. I was visiting my parents and I needed something reliable and cheap. Turns out I kind of like it--within its parameters. Good highway cruiser--fairly floppy around town. Surprisingly great fuel economy-- 23 overall, 32 on level freeway at 70. Very comfortable, typical GM squeaks and rattles in dash. Tons of luxury features--rainsensing wipers, automatic headlights, great sound system. Repairs can be expensive. Decent acceleration, engine sometimes coarse.May 25, 2011

i love the Buick Le Sabre its the best car i just like the quality of its driving and everything.And its just the best car in the world it has not had any breakdowns or anything it idles just like a cat its sounds the best the comfort is the best in there it does well on the highway and in the city. Parents bought the car new. Have had to replace the power
windows 5 different times on various windows. Drivers window
gone out once, passenger front window twice, and each rear
window once. Transmission gone out twice, though the second
transmission was salvaged. Besides that, rides great and gets
great fuel

I like, when it's running correctly, the nice smooth ride. I hate, however, the problems we are having with the suspension, such as constant fishtailling. it is fun to drive. It has its problems, but I generally enjoy the ride.Jul 15, 2009

Lesabre wPD window goes down not up on both sides
Trying to determine where the be problem is at. Passenger window, goes down but not back up. Does not work on the DD or PD, down works on both. Brand new window regulator, bought another one to make sure that was not it. I can hot wire it right at the motor with 12v, goes right up np. *is it the door module on PD? *is it the switch on PD, DD or both? Can't be a fuse because then it wouldn't work either direction. It had been working fine when we bought it last year for my Father in law. He is not good on cars but i had replaced the regulator in Nov 2022 and it was fine. We are selling it now and the buyer found that the window will not go up, that's why i bought another regulator thinking i big a cheap Chinese one. Turns out that one works fine to. Read several posts on this site, none exactly covered my situtation.

2001 lesabre won't start makes no sound but lights come on
It's not the battery or the connections. I checked them all. The dash lights all come on but it makes no sound and does not crank.
