One problem that has plagued the Audi TT over the years is that its sleek one-of-a-kind styling promises a sportier ride than it's actually been able to deliver. Although the 225-hp 4-cylinder engine in the quattro trims improves performance a bit, the quattro all-wheel-drive system adds enough weight to the car to prevent it from really cutting loose.
The 2004 Audi TT tries to solve that by offering a 3.2-liter V6 engine that produces 250 horsepower. Like the base 1.8-liter, 180-hp engine and the 1.8-liter, 225-hp turbo in the mid-level quattro trims, the 3.2 is available in either the 2-door Coupe or convertible Roadster. It's paired with a new DSG (direct-shift gearbox), virtually a dual clutch manual transmission that lets you move seamlessly between automatic and manual modes, providing quicker transition between gears. The goal is to remove turbo lag and improve overall acceleration performance. The base 1.8-liter still comes with the 6-speed Tiptronic, and the 225-hp turbo has a 6-speed manual. Quattro AWD is offered only with the turbo and 3.2-liter engines, while the base Coupe and Roadster have front-wheel drive.
Other minor changes in the 2004 TT include xenon headlamps across the line, a stiffer suspension, and some minor facial changes. The 3.2 trims get a larger spoiler to complement their more powerful engine, 18-inch tires, and corner gills.
The new powertrain adds more fun and flair to the driving experience, with better off-the-line capabilities and behavior more fitting to a convertible sports car. The 2004 TT quattro trims gain owner praise for the way they stay glued to the road thanks to AWD and their precise cornering and maneuverability. Drivers like the fuel economy, at a respectable 20/29 mpg, and enjoy the fact that turbo lag is nonexistent on the 3.2-liter V6 (because it has no turbo). But the same old criticisms still haunt the TT. These include poor rear visibility that hampers parking and the lack of power seats in an expensive and stylish car. Owners would also like a center armrest. As always, reliability is an issue and Audi dealerships don't win many fans.

The car is in good condition. I had concerns about the convertible top. It looked like someone had reglued the back glass area. I had an an Audi TT QUATTRO for 10 yrs and the roof died. Its not cheap to fix. This will need a new top at some point. For the $ this guy wants. Its up to u. Still an adorable carSep 30, 2020

I owned a Series One 2002 Audi TT Roadster, stick shift, and love it. The small 1.8T engine, but fast enough. And then I saw the Series One coupe. And I thought...open the garage door, and there they are...a matched set! The Roadster looks great top down, but top up it looks fuddy-duddy. But the coupe, the roofline sweeps down into the back deck and rear end. Beautiful. So, on Cargurus, I found and bought a green 2004 Series One Audi TT S coupe. I like the difference in feel, look and performance of the Roadster and the Coupe. Future classics? Maybe, maybe not. But I really like them as a former antique car collector who now appreciates the build quality of newer cars.Aug 25, 2020

I had a great time owning this car for the past three and half years. It gives a decent mileage being turbocharged which makes it a good daily driver. Ride is not harsh for a sports car and it is still very stable. Steering is very precise.
It is fun to drive not only in the city but also on the highway. It is a small car on the outside but trunk is exceptionally big. You can easily fit two large sized bags.
It is very safe to drive in winters. Drove it in Michigan winters for past two years, NEVER got stuck in snow.May 02, 2015

Jeg tror ytelsen til bilen er veldig bra. Den skal ha bra styring å sitte bra på veien. har ikke kjørt den enda.
Det er en vrakebil.. Derfor vet jeg ikke om den ofte trenger å fikses.
Den ser veldig bra ut. Litt bobleformet for min smak så vi har planlagt å skifte fronten til den nye 2008 tt fronten. På insiden har den mange fine effekter som foreksempel skjult cdspiller (bak en kromma metallplate med gravert tt merke) å automatiske vinduer som opner seg litt i det du opner døra å lukker seg automatisk ved lukking.
Det er tross alt en sports klasse med en 3.2 liter quattro motor så om du ikke er forbrett på å betale for bensin vilket jeg vel egentlig ikke er så bør man ikke kjøpe den.
Den er sterk som faen men ser ut som en bie så ja jeg antar at den er rimelig morsom å kjøre dersom du ikke trenger å tenke på hvor forsiktig du må være å hvor mye besnin du faktisk bruker på mila!Aug 10, 2009

I loved it and the DSG was terrific! Mileage on trips was between 32 and 36mpg. Fun to drive, solid. Braking and handling were great and the workmanship inside and out were top quality. That is why I am on my 4th Audi TT!

Fantastic fuel economy. Looks awesome.
A bit expensive to buy, but so much fun to drive.
Once I drove one I knew I had to buy one.
Interior is a little basic.. especially compared to other
Audis.

Good all round car, fun to drive and solid, not as
pricey to run as you may think, although repairs can
get expensive! Styling is great, and almost timeless,
and blue leather interior makes it really different. No
funny rattles or squeaks at all, the whole time I've had
it, and not really anything major that has gone wrong
other than the usual wear!! If your considering getting
one, make sure you go for a quattro as having 4wd

Here we have a 2004 Audi TT Quattro. I love this car. out of all the cars We own, this has come to be the most reliable in all sorts of weather. There hasn't been many thing's done to the vehicle just a oil check here and there and steering oil fluid. The TT here comes equipped with a "Quattro" being the turbo. out of the many car's I've seen and sat in this has come to be my personal favorite.May 30, 2008
