2001 Hyundai Elantra Preview summaryImage

The 2001 Hyundai Elantra is the third generation of Elantra, redesigned to add more space and comfort. It still only comes with a single engine: a 140 hp, 2.0 liter inline 4-cylinder engine. This engine came with three transmission options: the standard 5 speed manual, the optional 4 speed manual, or the optional 4 speed automatic. Gas mileage is pretty good, with 24 miles per gallon city miles and 33 highway miles. And in the redesign, the 2001 Hyundai Elantra gained a few inches, now 177 inches long and 67 inches wide. Additionally, the 2001 Hyundai Elantra is available as a sedan or a hatchback.

As far as the interior goes, the 2001 Hyundai Elantra didn't gain a whole lot of features. Air conditioning, cruise control, power windows and power locks a CD player, leather seats, and a manual sunroof are all available, either standard or optional, depending on the trim. To keep everyone safe, driver, passenger and side airbags are standard on both trims, with anti-lock brakes and traction control was safety options.

Owners of the 2001 Hyundai Elantra tended to think highly of the car. While there were not an overwhelming number of complaints, the ones that did exist cited numerous problems. If you get one of the few bad Hyundais, you really get a bad one. Nobody commented on the added inches in body size, but nobody complained about the 2001 Elantra being too small, either. Gas mileage was one of the most talked about features, as was the unexpected amount of pep for a vehicle of this caliber. Like so many other Hyundais, especially the later models, this is a highly recommended car.

it's been a solid reliable car (2nd owner) ... original owner kept up with maintenance. Hyundai has come a long way. Also got a $750.00 credit from the dealer towards our new 2015 Santa Fe for being a "loyal Hyundai owner". pretty good deal!Mar 17, 2015

bought this car brand new use to be gold changed color after dash fire and I am still driving it with 65K on it. Everything on it still works as it should. but the heater blower system eats fan control switches like candy I did a lot of research on this car before buying it, I bought the car goes GREAT in the snow.. It also handles good on dry roads as well I had it up to 80 mph and handles great. The only repairs I have made were over 12 replacements of heater blower fan control switches and the whole heating system replaced, other than that just the regular repairs. I would buy another but with a newer heater systemMar 01, 2015

I bought this car brand new and I am still driving it with 79K on it. Everything on it still works as it should. but the heater blower system eats fan control switches like candy I did a lot of research on this car before buying it, I bought the car goes GREAT in the snow. I always run 35 - 45 on the slippery roads with no trouble and I have gone through powder snow that was coming over the hood. It also handles good on dry roads as well I had it up to 90 mph and handles great. The only repairs I have made were over 20 replacements of heater blower fan control switches and 1 fuel injector, other than that just the regular repairs. I would buy another but with a newer heater system. .Mar 01, 2015
