Fors escape ecm won't crank or start
I installed a new programmed ecm , they key is also programmed . It will not crank or start and the antitheft light is on , please help me.

The 2001 Ford Escape was seen by many drivers and reviewers as a delightful surprise from Dearborn. Although Ford had made a tremendous fuss about its plans to launch a smaller, more nimble SUV, the '01 Escape delivered far beyond expectations.
With a 173-inch overall length, the 2001 Escape was a pixie among the sport-utility market's behemoths. Despite its relatively small size, though, it managed to fit five adults in reasonable comfort, and hold 33 cubic feet (with rear seats up) or 63 cubic feet (with rear seats folded) of cargo.
The entry-level engine for the '01 Ford Escape was the 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder Zetec with a 130-horsepower output. An optional upgrade, to the 3.0 liter, 24-valve Duratec V-6, with its healthy 200 horsepower and 200 lb.-ft. of torque, transformed the Escape into a little powerhouse.
ABS front-disc brakes gave the Escape great stopping power, and optional front-side airbags added security. Despite its outdoorsy stylings, though, the 2001 Escape wasn't a great off-road vehicle; designed for suburban streets and interstate highway, the Escape was more comfortable there.
And speaking of 'comfort,' the Escape was easy on the wallet when it came to the gas pump, with mileage rated at 18-23 mpg city, 24-28 mpg highway, depending on model. Not bad at all for a sturdy little packhorse that could tote a bunch of people and cargo!

This escape has not only saved me money in fuel mileage it is fun to drive. I have no doubt this smaller version of the Explorer will be the car for me from here on out. It handles great, is comfortable to ride in and the fuel economy makes it an all around great automobile. I would recommend this car to any new car owner as well as someone looking for a smaller SUV type.Apr 07, 2015

All in all for the price and the dependability good buy. The inside is not at all good for moving with my family in it as far as the cargo space is concerned, but for a beach car this does the trick.May 14, 2014

very nice vehicle. city mileage okay (16mpg) great highway mileage (27 mpg) at best averaging around 21-22 mpg. handles better than most cars. really tight turning radius. decent acceleration and decent brakes. vehicle has 204,000 miles and still running strong. auto 4WD is nice but after driving most of its life on gravel 4WD trys to kick in at random times just a small annoyance thoughDec 16, 2011

I would reccomend this vehicle to everyone. Great power, handles great and never lets me down. Looks good to. Bit of a gas gusaler but all in all a great vehicle to drive. I would run anybody on the road with it.Nov 20, 2009

I own an 01 Escape V6 FWD, LOVE it so far, drives great, handles great. I bought it from an owner that mostly kept the car in California so I can't attest for body integrity too much, but the car is rust free after almost 9 years. the V6 works great for towing and doesnt really need to downshift until you hit a long hill while towing, I tow a pop up camper about 2500 lbs, handles great with or without a trailer and I have no complaints so far, have not drove it in the winter yet, I think it will do just fine. as for fuel economy, I have got as high as 29 mpg on an all highway trip! with mixed highway and city driving I average around 24, my lowest was 18, towing through hills which still doesn't seem bad to me. The car of compact SUVs, I really loved this Escape. Extremely comfy, room to spare, and performance that wasn't all that bad. It had a few issues in the time I had it, but I definitely can't say it was horribly unreliable. It even did pretty well off road. Man, i need another one...Oct 24, 2009

I miss my escape! I loved that thing. I had awesome gas mileage and it was roomy. My payments was cheap as well as my insurance. I was fun to drive bc i had a sun roof, so I'd drive around with the windows down and the music up.Jul 20, 2009

Tis a pretty good car for the price that i paid. Runs well, not too bad on fuel. The leather interior gets hot in summer and cold in winter, but i dont care cos i love leather. Needs some good beats tho, the stock cd player sucks.Dec 29, 2008

Unibody construction helps it handle better than most SUVs on a frame. Not as top heavy. Build quality is avg. Have replaced the air conditioner compressor and a strut mount on the front, both high cost repairs. 4X4 goes well in the snow. Overall I'm very satisfied with it, but am looking to trade soon for something more fuel efficient around town.Dec 20, 2008

I like the fact taht its good a nice sound system in it for an SUV i dont liek it that my radio doesn't show time. oh well. will have taht replaced. It is a very strong car. My car has already been backed into once by a semi truck and it stayed in once peice. the only part that gave way was the Rear driver side door. the windows exploded liek a firework had hit it. but in any other words its a Strong Safe and Sturday car. This has got to be the best SUV out there. I was getting about 26 MPG and it had 4WD. It could fit 8 comfortably and still have cargo space. The interior was pretty basic but clean. It was the perfect vehicle o just load up and go. The only reason I got rid of it was because I had alot of miles on it and my warranty expired. I also wanted to get a convertable again.Aug 21, 2008

The truck is roomy has a good ride and equipped with the V-6 it is reasonably quick. It handles off roading reasonably well and gets good mpg for this segment.Jul 07, 2008

I got this truck in 2006 with about 92,000 miles on it. Two weeks after purchasing it, I had an unfortunate encounter with some water. After replacing the engine, it had a problem with the catalytic converters breaking apart. Since there are no emissions testing here in Michigan, I just broke them apart and cleaned it out with a shop vac. Other than that unfortunate experience with the water, I've had very few issues with the truck. It has great acceleration and suspension, though it's very easy to turn it around on an icy road. The appearance is typical of era Ford Europe design, but no frills. Though, the interior is surprisingly roomy in proportion to the size of the truck. Gas mileage, after installing a K&N filter, is 26hwy and 20city. Not great, but not bad for an SUV. I think that's the same as what the Flex is supposed to get. Jun 25, 2008
