4th gear shifting question.
My 2000 k3500 4x4 won't shift into high gear until I am at 50 mph. Is that normal? Around town I spend most of my time below that speed so I am always in 3rd gear.

You can't watch an old film without seeing one of these trucks in them. They were the answer to everyman's total utility vehicle. They were the workhorse for every hauling job imaginable & are still seen running around today. I can haul a 1/2 ton of sand in it, pull up a tree stump with the 3 speed granny gear, or drive to the super market.Sep 03, 2013

Hard to find info about it other than that it handles like a cadillac. Great power, love the style and the engine is very quiet for the 454. I wont buy anything else as far as trucks go. I love this truck!Sep 18, 2012

200,000 miles and virtually no mechanical problems. Great towing capacity, 454 V-8 is a plus-lots 'o torque. Been to 18 different states towing upwards of 10,000 lbs through mountain passes, coastlines, and flatland highways. Only thing I would add would be a turbocharger to help with the high altitude pulls.Oct 10, 2010

Gets the job done, mine has the work boxes so plenty of storage. Hasnt needed any repairs yet. Its like any other work truck. A bit of a gas hog, if you take care of it, it will take care of you. It has a smooth ride even though it is a work truck.Feb 11, 2010

I love my truck, though most hate on it. It has seen better days, but will pull anything! It gets terrible gas mileage... But it has been a pretty good truck. It's easy to boss hog in, but a pain in the butt to park!Jan 08, 2010

this truck is great for towing ANYTHING.... it is very powerfull but is a bit of a gas guzzler but if u dont mind that it is a great truck and if u ever take a long trip the seats are very comfortable and she rides very smooth and it is also great for mud boggingDec 28, 2009

How to Troubleshoot my Chevy C3500 AC System
Hi all, I have a 2000 Chevy C3500. I am having probelms with my AC. I noticed the problem awhile back. My compressor would not engage. The AC system worked fine last summer and now that it is getting hot again I can not get it to come on. I have already tested / done the following; Jumpered relay to engage compressor - it does come on when I do this. Add refrigerant to the system thinking it was the low pressure safety switch, this did not do anything and now I am afraid I have too much refrigerant and I may slug the compressor. I have commercial / residential grade gauges but they do not fit on the auto style connections. I need to get adaptors for this. Checked the power across the relay coil - 12vdc and replaced the realy checked the power at the cylinder (what I believe is the low pressure switch) 12vdc checked the power at the compressor (connection on top) nothing unless I jumper the relay. I tried to find a wiring diagram but I have not had any luck on the internet. Any help you can offer will be great Thanks
