You may consider a sporty minivan an oxymoron, but Chrysler is determined to widen the Dodge Caravan's already broad appeal by offering a Sports package in the 1999 Caravan ES models. Along with a new grille, fog lamps, and a rear spoiler, comes AutoStick shifting which tries to convince you you're driving a manual, even though the Caravans are all automatic. The AutoStick is an alternative to the existing 3-speed and 4-speed automatic transmissions.
Other new features for the 1999 Caravan are a cargo net between the front seats, a front-end redesign on all models, 17-inch wheels, and an optional reclining child safety seat.
The always popular and affordable Caravan comes in five trims -- base, SE, LE, ES, and Sport, as well as the extended wheelbase Grand Caravans. For soccer moms and dads who want to recapture a bit of their youth while still remaining practical, maybe the Sports Package isn't such a crazy idea.

Listen, its a Caravan, all right? But I have to
say it was cheap to buy and is absolutely reliable
transportation and a decent hauler when needed.
There are obviously many better vehicles I would
rather be driving but for economic, reliable

i can puot1200lbs i it no probem (tested) relibility
fun to drive
the auto stic trasmition
the 3,8 v6

I love it. The acceleration is great. The braking is great. It handles how I want it to and I tend to abuse her a bit. It can hold a lot of items! Kids and stuff! The gas isnt to much, its about 40bucks to fill it up. I bought the van for $2,000! Dec 14, 2010

The newer vans look like vans, the older ones like mine look like a bubble, but the lower "swooped" front ends make it a breeze to drive. The extended van is great to have for cargo and what-not. The privacy windows are a true plus, keeps out unwanted rays from the sun and prying eyes. Jul 20, 2010

I like that I have a 3.8L engine as opposed to the standard 3.2L which obviously gives me more acceleration, but in town it tends to just cost more for the gas. The braking is alright because i just got new pads put in and the handling is a little loose, but I'm used to it. It has needed loads of repairs, and at high speeds rattles. Ghetto van. i get about $50 for a full tank which will take me about 6hrs to exhaust. So many repairs, too many to mention in fact. This car is alright, but its not too sexy.Jul 18, 2009

Great van to pile everyone into. Not too many problems, spacious, and still allowed me to go zooming inbetween cars on the freeway.

Great little van, loved it from day one. Sport model with 3.8 and quad seating. Held up well, drives well, no rattles or squeaks ever. 220,000 km other than normal maintenance (brakes, tires, tune-ups) nothing serious has ever gone wrong with this van. Had to do all the brake lines this year. Not bad for a 10 year old vehicle running in salty-road winters. Unfortunately, " the tin worm" has begun its nasty business. I've owned three previous models of Dodge Caravans ('86, '88,'91) and this one is by far the best.Mar 24, 2009

This is a great car. It's nice, spacious, the seats are really awesome, and the rolling doors are just fabulous. Driving it is relaxing and you just know you'll be safe with it on the road. Drivers on the road wish they could drive this car...IT IS THE BEST!Jan 29, 2009

I like my van. It is convent for my family and I like having the doors on both sides. Makes it easier to get my kids in and out. I dont know what else to say. It runs smooth and gets okay gas milage for a van. How many more words...Aug 19, 2008

my van has the gusto step on gas & it's more than willing to go.i have not need to do any repairs on it as of yet.the body is in mint condition,as well as the interior.it gets about 30miles to a gallon.i absolutely love driving it it run quite & smooth.i would like to buy another one in the future.Jul 10, 2008
