Can a starting sensor for a 3.0 Mitsubishi Montero be used on a 3.5?

The engine won't start, it cranks but won't start. Gas is good, there is power, it seems like it would start, but it would die out. Have to press the gas to try to start it and sometimes it would start then die after a while. It first started on the road. The lights faded while in traffic and died. Had to keep pressing the gas when in idle. Just wondering if the sensor would work. or what is wrong with it in general.

What type of repair could be needed for a 1998 Mitsubishi Monterro Sport that leaks oil and the alternator keeps getting saturated with oil and constantly needs replacing?

The alternator has been replaced 3 times within 5 years, once in the last 3 months.

About a 1998 Mitsubishi Montero

There is a flex brake line in the rear center of my Mitsubishi Montero 3.5 displacement. I have a mechanic working on the brake lines and he wants to remove the flex line and convert it to a hard line. I am concerned because it is not the way the vehicle was designed. What is your opinion. I need a quick answer because the work will be done this morning.

BRAKE LIGHTS

CAR RUNS WONDERFULLY BUT THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL TO ILLUMINATE. ALL FUSES CHECK POSITIVE, WIRING SEEMS GOOD, ALL OTHER LIGHTS WORK AS NORMAL EXCEPT BRAKE LIGHTS. CAN NAYONE PLEASE OFFER ADVICE?
