Report Print VIN: 1FALP65L5WK175717 Report#: 101 Vehicle: 1998 FORD CONTOUR Date of Report: 1/18/2017 8:48:13 AM Engine: V6, 2.5L; DOHC; 24V Mileage Reported: 60,000 POWERTRAIN DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INFORMATION MIL DTC P0305 Cylinder Number 5 Misfire Detected Severity Level: Moderate Quick Code Summary: Code P0305 indicates that Cylinder 5 had too many misfires within a predetermined period of time. This condition will prevent the vehicle from running at its optimum efficiency and fuel economy may suffer. A misfire contributes to loss of power, higher emissions and can damage components. Conditions For Setting This Code: DTC P0136, P0156, P0171, P0172, P0175, P1130 and P1150 not set, engine started, engine running under positive torque conditions, and the PCM detected a misfire a misfire in Cylinder 5 during the 200 revolution (Catalyst) or 1000 revolution (High Emissions) period. Note: If the misfire is severe, the MIL will flash on/off on the 1st trip! Possible Causes: Air leak in the intake manifold, or in the EGR or PCM system Base engine mechanical problem that affects only Cylinder 5 Fuel delivery component problem that affects only Cylinder 5 (i.e., a contaminated, dirty or sticking fuel injector) Ignition system problem (coil, plug) that affects only Cylinder 5 TSB 02-16-2 contains repair help for this code (LS & T-Bird) TSB 03-14-4 contains repair help for this code for COP ignition Copyright © 2010 IEC. Possible Causes: Air leaks after the MAF sensor, or leaks in the PCV system Exhaust leaks before or near where the HO2S is mounted Fuel injector(s) restricted or not supplying enough fuel Fuel system not supplying enough fuel during high fuel demand conditions (e.g., the fuel pump may not supply enough fuel) Leaking EGR gasket, or leaking EGR valve diaphragm MAF sensor dirty (causes PCM to underestimate airflow) Vehicle running out of fuel or engine oil dip stick not seated TSB 1-20-5 contains a repair procedure for this trouble code Copyright © 2010 IEC.
