My Regal GS made it to 218,000 miles with hardly a repair in its history. It was the ultimate in reliability...until a fire broke out in the engine bay (note: four years later, they have recalled these cars and the Grand Prix for just this problem). Still, I give the car high ratings because it got me where I needed to go without nickel-and-diming me to death.Apr 14, 2008

One of the best Buicks to come off the lot in at least 10 years! It's the first year of the last body style for the Regal. 3.8L V6 engine (3800 series II), 195bhp, Gran Touring Suspension, All-around disc brakes, leather interior, high practicality. This is not a Buick for an old person! If you think it's probably like it's sister the Century, it isn't. Jan 29, 2008

Transmission cuts out when gas pedal is depressed too far?
I have tried to get on the freeway at least 3 times where I have really wanted to "stomp" on the gas pedal to accelerate as fast as possible. The transmission seems to go into neutral and the car red lines at 5500 to 6000 rpm while not moving forward. When I let up on the gas pedal, the transmission reingages and the car accelerates regularly. It seems like the govenor is kicking in to keep the car from being "over" revved or trying to put too much strain on the drivetrain. Is this a possiblilty? Or is there a much greater problem than this? I have asked my "local" mechanic and he questioned me to find out if the check engine light came on, but it didn't. Anyone else have this problem?

Have a 1997 Buick Regal LS. Blower motor will not run on any of the control panel setting but will run off direct battery connection. Have 12V at the motor plug in all panel settings except Off.

Reset light
Can I reset the service engine soon light on my 1997 Buick Regal LS . Tried the push the gas pedal three times suggestion, don't work. Note my ABS light came on because of low fluid level. Fixed that then the other light came today.

why could anti lock and brake lights come on intermittantly for several weeks then go solid
I have a 97 Buick Regal LS and the anti lock lights started coming on intermittantly for several weeks then the brake light came on with it intermittantly for a short periuod at which time they both went on solid for 2 weeks at which time the alternator went. Once the alternator was replaced the lights went off for a week now they are both coming on intermittantly again. Any idea as to what could be causing this. If I shut the car off and restart they will go off sometimes. It seems they always come on when I first start to excellerate after having started the car and brake when putting car in gear or from an excellerating position. I am afraid something could be starting to drain the alternator again and in 7 weeks it will need replacing again but don't really know if there is any connection. Code can't be read as of now because the lights are intermittant. I have plenty of brake. Doesn't seem to be any problems there. I would apprecialte any ideas....
