1994 Nissan Maxima Preview summaryImage

The Nissan Maxima, which was due for a redesign the next year, saw no significant changes for 1994. The 1994 Nissan Maxima came in two trims: the GXE and the sportier SE. The SE was available with a five-speed manual or automatic transmission, and the GXE was available only with the four-speed manual. The GXE had a 3.0-liter, 160-horsepower V6, which was bumped up to 190 horses for the SE. The fuel economy is about 19/26 mpg for both engines. Drivers like the 1994 Nissan Maxima because it is a solid, dependable car that comes chock full of comfort amenities and is fun to drive. Many drivers find fault with the mechanical seatbelts.

Was a ex-little old lady car w/ 60K on the odometer, know has over 100K w/ no major work ever needed. The O2 sensor acting up now, but that's ok, the recommended time was back at 60K :-) Most annoying repair had to be the power window regulator. Most expensive (in parts) were the front struts. Plenty of power yet still gets decent gas mileage. Seat 4 6-footers comfortable. Over 16 yrs old yet everything works, no funky squeaks, rattles, leaks etc. One of the best cars I've ever owned!Dec 09, 2009

I like the fact that the 3rd gen Maxima has a stout engine and four wheel independent suspension. Build quality is great, if you do your scheduled maintenance and don't modify it you'll never have a problem with it. It's definitely not a looker but it's a fun drive for up to four people.Sep 18, 2009
