The 1991 Dodge Daytona lost a little power, but not any of its fans. For 1991, this front-wheel drive, 3-door hatchback bid farewell to the Turbo II and Turbo IV VNT engines. In their place, the Turbo I was revamped to the High Torque Turbo I, with a torque boost to 210. The 2.2-liter engine was also history, leaving three engine options -- the base 2.5-liter, 100-hp, the turbocharged 2.5-liter, 152-hp, and the 3.0-liter, 141-hp V6.
The Shelby disappeared mid-year, replaced by the V6 IROC, available with the V6 or the 2.5 turbo. A retuned suspension system improved the steering and stability of the Daytona. 1991 is also the last year for the C/S Competition Package, which added 16-inch wheels, high performance suspension and steering, and an enhanced manual transmission to ES models.
Issues raised by drivers include problems with the electrical system, scarcity of parts, and the sluggishness of the automatic transmission. But the plusses far outweigh the minuses, including the Dodge's reliability, affordability, smooth acceleration, easy operation, fuel economy, and, oh yes, its way-out speed.

I owned a 91 C/S, bought it brand new. That car is the reason I will NEVER buy another Dodge. It caught on fire at less than 30k I was told it was an alternator wire that ran through the transmission tunnel. MANY electrical issues before and after that. The turbo blew and wasnt covered under warranty so I returned the piece of garbage to Dodge. DO NOT BUY ONE. Oct 16, 2023

I love this car! I take it out when I want to race. It beats most cars and trucks off the line. Made a couple updates to the interior for a bit more flash and it turns heads. I'll keep this car till they don't make parts anymore!Mar 28, 2012

The overall look and handling of the car was good brakes are dinomite its got god gas mileage no knocking good front leg room no cup holders small ash tray booming stereo poor rear leg and head room folding rear seats and has tilt steering.Jan 21, 2012

i love the standard and the power . the car is fast! with the cold air intake and the
exhaust and the throttle body switch the car really livens up . hopin for coil overs
soon then it will handle like this car truely should handle. car is fantastic . i really

Well... what can i say? I killed my car by putting it in a telephone pole, terrible...i know. but when i did drive it the car was good. Not that many problems, performance kinda sucked cause i had the base model. so the 4 banger didnt do all that much. but it was fun to beat the crap out of it. it isnt a bad looking car... i liked it. it was a good cheapy...Nov 05, 2009

There isn't a single thing i dislike about this car it will move if you need it to and get good gas mileage at the same time. It has good accelration brakin and looks sporty. The interior is in mint condition. It is a overall fun car to drive it gets looks all the time where ever i go.Sep 23, 2009

The acceleration in this car is amazing. Because the
car is made of fiberglass it is lightweight and gets up
and goes. Overall the car is great and I have never had
to do any major repairs other than typical maintenance. The styling is typical of the 90's and has
a very unique shape. The gas mileage is great, and I
love to drive this car every day

1991 Dodge Daytona ES Hatchback with 3.0l V6. No turbo in this model, so the kick of the line is a little lacking, but this model will tear the shelby turbo's up on the highway, topping off at 168mph stock. Best competition for the Ford Probes that everyone had back then.Mar 26, 2008

I have a 1991 Daytona Shelby, it wont start, the fuel pump was replaced as well as various other things, Help with a little diagnossis on why it wont start?
It has the IROC FMIC, K&N intake, full straight 3" exhaust, upgraded injectors, custom tune, walbro fuel pump, new Garret turbo, MBC set at 16lbs of boost, new ignition, new map sensor, new TPS, new O2 sensor. All of this was done by the previous owner I bought the car for real cheap and was hoping to restore it. The work was done by mechanics.
