seat swap
can i swap seats from a newer caravan into my 1990 caravan? The seats i want to use are from a 2005 model, I think.

The second generation of the Chrysler minivan started with the 1991 Dodge Caravan. Although still on top, there was now more competition out there, so Chrysler revamped the interior and exterior of the Caravan, largely based on customer comments.
First, they dropped the turbocharged engine. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder remained standard, with optional 3.0 V6 and 3.3 V6 (with the oft-criticized Ultradrive) for more horsepower. A new ES trim was added.
Interior additions include bucket seats in the first two rows, a redesigned dashboard, and more cupholders. The 1991 Caravan was also the first minivan to feature child safety locks, four-wheel anti-lock brakes, driver's side airbags, and finally AWD. Exterior additions include more glass for greater visibility, particularly in the rear, and a lower nose.
Although still tops in customer satisfaction, many owners complain about the paint peeling off and the amount of repairs that need to be done.
Also, they have a tendency to leak oil.

This van, my first Dodge product, was bought for $400. to go to and from work and errands, to save wear on my 'precious' 1970 pre-souped Chevelle. The van actually has a smoother quieter ride than the Chevy. But then, it has been modified either. Its been pretty reliable since December, if not all that attractive [see second photo]. The 3.0 is a strong engine coupled to a 4-spd TorqueFlite automatic tranny, that knows soon enough, when I say 'go'. Feb 13, 2011

the transmission issues ...WAYYY TOO MANY OF THEM the exaust is getting there and would love to do more wiht it but a very nice car..its a van and a v6 so the gas is okay but could be better wish they made a manual trans for these vansNov 01, 2010

Fell in love with this one at first sight at another dealer and immediately went back to mine and ordered one. While it was a good looking , comfortable and adequately powered van, it was a lemon from the start. Came with a bad steering rack. Went through exhaust systems, brakes, rotors, transmissions like mad. Hit a deer and that was then end of it.Mar 24, 2009

We still have the car, nobody drives it though... There isn't a problem with, its just old. Anyway, it has almost 300,000 miles on it. Its getting a bit rusty, but its held together. The interior is nothing special, although it does have a gas mileage thing that also tells the temperature etc.May 01, 2008
