My 2nd car. Got if free, so that was a bonus. Engine sucks fuel pretty bad, but solid engine. Muffler was missing so had to get a new one. Otherwise, very reliable. Only problems were the door handle froze and broke when trying to open on a cold day. Easy to drive, and after a new stereo and speakers it was a job to ride in. Bench seat was great for more people, but not much storage in the car. Big trunk. Not a looker, but the 80's were...the 80's.Mar 03, 2015

I like how the parts for this car are usually readily available and their cost is fair. I do like the ride and comfort of it. The only serious detriment is that when something electrical goes south it is not an easy fix like my old 70 Monte or 69 Dodge truck was. Apr 20, 2014

I would reccoment and oldmobile cutlass ciera to anyone
especially if it has a 2.5 4 tech motor "iron duke" or the 3300 3.3 litre v-6

it has balls believe it or not. cruises smooth. needs paint job and weather strip. oh yeah an ac compressor. I bought it real cheap and real low milage.I did the upholstery from the inside pretty nice for 1st time trying it.Apr 24, 2011

performance isnt that great,how ever if u cut the muffler off and add a short ram,the acceleration gets better than stock.break sucks as does handling,but your not going to be able to "hug" the road in this type of car,there is a way to fix this tho.get smaller tires and some 3" lowering springs and you will beable to hug the road better then you would if you have the stock tires on or as a donk...
the build quality is great with mine.appearance isnt great right now,but working on it.im about to smoke out the headlights/taillights and run blue HDS headlights.going to mod me a body kit for it.gas mileage suck when im driveing it in town..maintenance isnt bad,just the norm.love taking it though the mud and around corners!Aug 25, 2010

Great beater car or daily driver car. The 2.8 MFI is actually pretty tourquie. The back seat doesnt have alot of room but the truck is pretty big. Parts are cheap and the car is built to last a long timeJun 22, 2010

I owned an '89 model (brown in color, inside and out) from 1997 - 2002. It came equipped with a 173 ci 2.8L V6, power windows, AC, AM/FM casette stereo. Stock rims, similar to those on the 1986 Chevrolet Camaro Sprot Coupe. It was just the right size for me, as I was a high school student at the time. It was pretty decent on gas mileage, and was good for extended driving. The paint was not of the best quality as GM had some poor results with their auto paints in the 1980's. Most likely due to tha age, the transmission had to be rebuilt in 1999. Car stayed in good running condition until it was totaled in a wreck (I was not driving the car at the time). I still have many good memories of the car. I wish I had a picture of the car, but alas, I do not know where any are at this present time.May 20, 2010

The car has no ac. It has manual windows. The car is actually white.The back windows dont even go all the way down. The thing has a old look and feel. The suspension is the only thing I like about it.Sep 16, 2009

Lets see, i had a garbage bag to cover the passenger window, the hood was kept shut by duct tape, the roof interior was coming off, the back seat was coming off, the steering wheel had no cushion, it was all metal! my tires were from 2 different tire companies! no stereo, and my coin slot was ripped off!Sep 09, 2009

All i can say is it is an amazing first car compared to
what junkers my friends have. it was alot cheaper then
my friends cars and has alot less miles and will most

It has a 3.3L V6 that is fuel injected and it has a auto transmission it is a little rough on the start up and it idles high but it smooths out after a while, it is a little rough around the edges some rust needs some work but I like it and for $400 bucks its not bad!Dec 10, 2008

well the car wasnt the best thing to look at but it did get a chance to prove how valuable it was when it went all the way to south dakota and back without breaking down before we got home, and it wasnt the best car for the gas eitherSep 21, 2008

ignition module on my 1989 Cutlass Ciera?
I have a 1989 Cutlass Ciera with 70,100 on it and it runs great except..... when it heats up it will start pulling and stuttering and when I get to a stop sign or light it will stall. Once I pull over and it starts again, which isn't a problem, the rpm's are racing. Last year the same thing happened and the ignition module was replaced and that seemed to work, could that be the problem again?
