What is the S mark on shifting coloum for with the auto trans
Its below the D mark which is for drive, has an S next ? Why?

car pays for itself...has lasted 25 years, and does fine with gas consumption, drives like its the 1980s.
The car is a little old and needs TLC every now and again, but overall, the car drives great, everything works and is an enjoyable ride.Apr 16, 2013

It's a cool ride to have, very reliable (even though it's an '85), good fuel economy, good power, and it has a cool sport/classy look. The only bad thing about it is its space, its a bit limited but can be worked with. Also, right now that I am working on the electrical wiring its a bit pricey.Feb 18, 2012

Picked up a 1985 325e at a Goodwill lot for $500. It sat in a garage or barn for a number of years. Rodents were storing nuts in the engine! All it needed were brakes and tires, and I was on the road. What a blast! Straight 6, super long pistons meant super low idle, sounded like a desiel. easy as pie to work on. Drove it for a few years, then the real repairs started. Brakes, throttle, clutch, electronics, fuel system. Sold it with 199,995 miles on it, couldn't get the last 5 five out of it. Hey for the money great car cheap to run and handels the goat trials in my neck of the woods great,ha ha ha.Water pump went out but a life time replacement one was for it was under $40.00 heck can,t beat that.Have not had it long under two months,but it has impressed me. Best rear wheels drive car! comfortable seats and easy to drive.
but as it is an old car it rusts badly! and don´t have a good reputation.
cheap parts and easy to fix.

This car had been sitting in a garage for 7 years when i bought it. They never
started it never moved it. I changed the gas and purged the lines put a battery in
it stated right up and have been driving it with out a problem. It has and inline 6
engine automatic trans. It is a little slow off the line but has one great top end
acceleration. It rides really well. takes corner like you wouldn't believe possible

i abused this car like no other from burnouts, to donuts blew the motor due to the timing belt jumping never saw a hole in a piston till now i was probably driving it on five cylinders got 270,000 miles on it she was a beauty and will be rising from the dead soonOct 30, 2009

when i first got it, it wasnt in the best shape performance wise. alot had to be replaced, fixed, and tuned. appearance when i first got it was ok, but now its pretty sik. ive worked hard on it, without mitchells help it wouldnt have looked half as good haha. it drives like a dream, ive lightened it up alot. its a quick lil car :)Oct 08, 2009

The engine is dead, no breakes the suspension is realy bad and i never bought any parts to this car,the interior is ugly. i bouth the car for 20 € and i selled it for 40€ but otherwise it suckedSep 30, 2009

I drive an 85 so its a little worn down, therefore its not as responsive as modern cars. I got it for pretty cheap from my uncle, and the insurance is pretty cheap. Its pretty much a chick magnet. I love it.Jun 30, 2009

Very low milage car (57,000 km as of today), wow
Acceleration is OK, braking could be better, but the looks is awsome.
Recaro seats, M looks, BBS wheels (15 inch)
All original!!
Hope to race a vintage race soon!!!

I bought it from a neighbor whose husband passed away in 1998 and the car sat for 10 years. The body is cherry and the engine is great. Excellent acceleration, even for an e-class. Engine is quiet. It handles better than my friends Porsche 911 and is almost as quick. I have to thank the good people at BMW for creating The Ultimte Driving Machine. its performance is great, but the top speed isn't as good as it should be. It needs a few repairs now and then, but overall it runs great. The one aspect of the car that i really dislike is the dings and scratches that my relatives put on it when they owned it. It gets 17 miles per gallon. Great car while I was in high school. Perfect daily
driver. As any older car, was a nickel and dimer...
had to stay on top of the minor things. Most work
done was on normal wear items. I was sad to let
this car go, but I couldn't drive it every day while in
college. It began to rust in the typical E30 spots,
under the tailgate, and on the rocker panels.
I would definitely recommend an E30 to any BMW
enthusiast,... though if I were to get one again, I

Considering adding turbo
I know I'm going to run into nickel and dime problems but i am considering adding a turbo to my 1985 325e. I'm guessing my car would smoke any stock M3 on the road. I know, I know, why mess with a nice car... I'm guessing that it would produce around 600 hp. Any thoughts? Does it sound realistic? Why or why wouldn't you do it? Any other ideas?

Flooding trunk?
My trunk keeps filling with rain water. I've gotten in the trunk and had a friend run a light around the perimeter...no leaks visible. I coated the seal with vaseline and ran a hose over the trunk...no leaks. I heard it may be the "water channels" from the roof to the rear. Anyone know anything about these clogging on the E30?
