I have continually owned and maintained an MG B roadster since I was 23 years old (am now 65). I have successfully taken extended road trips from Long Island to Key West /Chicago/Detroit/Atlanta/Washington DC/Boston/Nashville without undo traumatic breakdown..Primarily due to my expulsion of the major Lucas electrical system components--ie adapted a GM Alternator an electronic ignition a generic electronic fuel pump and conversion to a generic modern fuse box (the Lucas starters were good) & upgraded to tube shocks on front and rear with sway bars and an exhaust header with an Abarth exhaust system. I plan to upgrade brakes to discs on all 4 corners and upgraded hydraulics. This is my trophy car and I do enjoy it.Oct 31, 2013

There is nothing this car needs. It had tons of recent work done. There was never any rust and other than a new paint job and a new interior and rebuilt adds and ends it is a great , beautiful driver. Compression : 115 110 115 110Mar 24, 2013

Come on, it's an MGB - pure fun for not much cash and a great car to work on - there are only about 10 moving parts and you can see them all! I will even drive it on a dry New England winter day just to remind me summer will be back!Jan 21, 2012

Fun car - gotta take one of these for a spin. It needs more power, but a good chevy v6 will make these as fast as any heavy v8 powered car today. a little extra body kit makes these things so sexy.Aug 24, 2009

I have a 1980 MGB which has been showing overheating without a clear cause. I had lost fluid and could not identify where from. Yesterday was very cool in Northeast and I drove with the interior heater on for five minutes and stopped for a few minutes . When I returned to the car I realized I had dropped most of the coolant and when I looked under the hood I saw the fluid gushing out of the control valve for the interior heat. what is broken ?
interior heater was put on for a couple minutes and shortly after the car was spewing coolant out of the control mechanism near the head on the left side of the block. photo below. What causes this ?

My 80 MGB was steaming at right front tire area & no leaks detectable..tire blew from heat!
My MGB BEGAN STEAMING at right front area...steam coming from tire area...tire blew from the heat & lost all air though no hole in tire...smelled like wet rubber smell but see no water or leak...got this way after short 10 minute trip...I am baffled...any idea???

MG sat all winter and will not start
I put my MG in storage for the winter and now it won't start, I'am getting fuel to the carb but after repeated attempts of turning it over it won't hit at all. I'm getting spark , the plugs are dry even after pumping the gas and turning it over..?
