1979 Toyota Celica Preview summaryImage

The 1979 Toyota Celica did not change from the previous year, when it was redesigned.

The 1979 Toyota Celica was available as a coupe ST and GT and a hatchback GT. The engine was a four-cylinder, 2.2-liter engine.

The 1979 Toyota Celica was a popular car, but those who loved the Celica for its sporty handling found this generation of Celicas, which offered a smoother, more comfortable ride, to be disappointing. Still, today the 1979 Celica is often used for racing, but almost always with modifications. Celicas of this era are also prone to rust problems.

The 1979 Toyota Celica was all show and no go. The performance, even with the 5-speed, was pathetic, and the build quality left much to be desired. I've owned two Toyota Celicas. Both died. I doubt I'll own another Toyota.Aug 17, 2009
