For reliable, daily transportation, you can't really beat an E21 chassis. The M10 engine is nearly bulletproof, and everything on the car is so simple to repair. I removed the engine and gearbox in about 2.5 hours by myself. It gets better than 25 MPG, an oil change is hardly more than 20 dollars, and the best tires in the world in the stock size are about 55 dollars each. Stock, the car isn't that much of a performer at all, but it's still fun to drive. Uprating the brakes and suspension, fitting a better exhaust and intake would really transform the car. Lowered with some oversized wheels, the E21 can look truly mean. Or, 13 inch steel wheels and an abundance of chrome make a classic statement. Watch out for rust, though.Jul 25, 2008
