1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo Preview summaryImage

The 1978 Chevy Monte Carlo was the first of third generation of Monte Carlos. The 1978 Monte Carlo was just under 800 pounds lighter than the 1977 model due to size reductions attributed to the 70s gas crisis.

Unfortunately, the engine was dropped in size as well. A 230-ci V6 rated at 104 horsepower came standard, with a 305-ci V8 as an option. While these engines might have represented a drop in power then, today this makes for an even more fun car to tune.
