The 1978 Chevy Monte Carlo was the first of third generation of Monte Carlos. The 1978 Monte Carlo was just under 800 pounds lighter than the 1977 model due to size reductions attributed to the 70s gas crisis. Unfortunately, the engine was dropped in size as well. A 230-ci V6 rated at 104 horsepower came standard, with a 305-ci V8 as an option. While these engines might have represented a drop in power then, today this makes for an even more fun car to tune.

wouldnt trade my monte for anything in the world.. Performance is outstanding with my 327 running under the hood. PRICELESS!!! Had my car for over 5 years, put alot of work into it, i couldnt ask for anything better.. MC BABY!!

It is so easy to just cruise or swap a few parts and hit the track. Always turns heads and get thumbs up everywhere I go. Hope to pass it on to my daughter someday. Bug only when I out grow the fun lol.

My 78 monte carlo was a z34 model. It came with an aluminum trunk lid. To find a car form the 70's like that, ha good luck. Wish I still had her. It was definitaly one of my favorite cars to drive and to work on.
