What happens to the smog pump on my 1973 Buick Centurion when the vacuum control hose is no longer connected to it (see attached photo)? Got a vacuum problem with my car that was fixed few days ago. Solution of the auto repair shop was to remove some vacuum hoses such as the one that was routed to the smog pump. Can I live without it?
I need to re-tension the V-belt to the power steering pump of my '73 Buick. However, this seems to be much trickier than expected. Any hint how to get this done? Thanks, Peter
In order to improve fuel economy, I was recommended to disable the smog pump on my Buick Centurion by removing the V belt. Do I have to consider anything else like removing or plugging any hoses or am I done with the removed belt?
This is embarrassing but I just purchased a 73 Buick LeSabre Electra Glide if you're looking at the motor on the driver side there is like a pump I don't know if it's a generator or what it is but the alternator and air compression there is on the other side does anyone know what this is part is called and what it does it does have a belt that goes on it thank you
My '73 Buick Centurion has severe start-up problems. At the moment I'm not able to get the engine started at all - not even using jumpstart fluid (sprayed into vacuum hose connected to master brake cylinder). Ignition basically works; ballast resistor seems to be OK, too. Also fuel is being delivered to carburetor. So either there is an air problem or bad ignition timing. Ideas very welcome.
