Gasket/spacer question for carburetor?
Can you use a spacer in between gaskets under an autolite carburetor on a 1965 Thunderbird (390) WITHOUT raising the air filter so much that the hood doesn't close

Uncharacteristically for the second year of a new generation, the 1965 Ford Thunderbird had many new features added, included standard front disc brakes and sequential turn signals (the tail lights indicated turn direction via light order flashing).
A 6.4-liter, 390-cubic-inch V8 rated at 315 horsepower took 11 seconds to go from 0-60 mph, a deviation from the T-bird's muscle-car roots. Sales fell from 92,465 in 1964 to 74,972 in 1965, despite having many people interested in any of the T-bird trims: the convertible, hardtop, or Landau.
