The 2005 Ford Thunderbird continued the two-seater tradition with its typical sharp-yet retro-convertible. Considered a luxury vehicle, prices for a new T-Bird started in the high 30's.
The standard engine was a 3.9-liter V8. The engine is a little loud, as is typical for V8's, but the all-around drive is fun and smooth.
The car pays proper respect to its predecessors, with round headlights over a grille that can look like it's either smiling or snarling, depending on how fast the little roadster is coming up behind you.

I have a 2005 50th anniversary edition. 93,000 miles. Great car, fun to drive all original (except tires and brakes) gives no trouble and gets around 18 mpg around town. Oct 29, 2021

I personally dont like the white hard top on the red car. The monotone exterior is usually the sleekest.Oct 04, 2021

Sloppy steering. Good power but not crazy power. Hard to obtain parts and they are pricey if you find them. Car will turn heads as not many were produced.Jun 18, 2021

As posted on Hagerty, unforgettable is simply not a big enough word to describe Ford’s Thunderbird, built with two seats only, even people who couldn’t care less about cars will more often than not stop and view it. With its classic portholes on each side for rear side views, it would be hard to find anyone of a certain age who doesn’t recognize it. You also don’t see many T-birds running around the streets anymore. According to David Tulowitzky, of the CTCI’s Trail Birds of Southwest Florida chapter, “There might have been other popular collector cars that have popped up in recent years, but I don’t know of any other model that has surpassed the T-bird. Today muscle cars are drawing more and more attention as a whole, but there isn’t one particular model that stands out as much as the T-bird, certainly among casual observers.” This car’s a star!Feb 02, 2015

Drive and rides very nice. Wife's car and she loves the Cashmere color and looks. White cashmere leather interior feels soft and is better than the basic 50 Anniversity we had previously. The retro look is stunning and has a lot of the modern conviences. Hardtop with th portholes is a throughback to the fifties. May 31, 2014

Would have liked a manual trans option. Passenger power seat not available. Not a good car for a trip due to small trunk and no usable space behind seats. Still, it is a great car to drive for a night out.Apr 07, 2014

This car ride wonderfully- Me, BB King, Eric Clapton & the North Georgia Mountains~heavenly! Put the top down this car ads to the scenery. The power and handling is the best. Once you drive/ride in it you will want it.Dec 13, 2010

Love the style, comfort and
performance.
The T-bird is a "soft" sports car, it is
fun
to drive, it has great acceleration and is
a
perfect highway cruiser. Very, very
reliable, and cheap to maintain. Ford's
quality is for real!Sep 12, 2009

My dad got this car strictly just to own one. I know alot of people don't like the way it looks but i appreciate it. Ford paid alot of attention to detail when they made this car.May 18, 2008

I've had the car less that one year , love it. but been haveing a transmission leak. dealer can't seem to fix it. (UPDATE) The trans was rebuilt and stilled leaked many trips to the shop all taken care of by Ford, and a new factory trans was installed with a factory rep present at install. He found the shop was adding to much trans oil and that's what the problem was all a long. However it was not the fault of the dealer shop, it was the Ford spec calling for one (1) Quart more oil than was needed.Jun 13, 2007
I had a 2003 t-bird and I could have sworn it had a 4.6 liter engine but now that I am looking for another one they all look like they all have 3.9 liter engines...Thanks mark
My 2005 TBird with 23,000 miles chugs/misses at speed while depressing the throttle even lightly. My Launch shows a P358 code. I unplugged the #8 ignition coil and plugged in a noid light and started the car and verified the computer was sending a pulse to the coil. (Also unplugged the #8 injector). Purchased an OEM coil from Ford and installed it. Cleared the code form the PCM. Went for a test drive. Car still misses/stumbles/chugs and new P358 code appears. From a standing stop if I stomp on it, it seems just fine. Any thoughts? Could it be the #8 plug? Also sitting at light it sometimes starts to miss felling like it’s going to stall say 1 out of 10 times. Thanks
