The 1957 Ford Thunderbird saw the first major restyling of the model. The T-bird was graced with a new front grille, and was as pretty going as coming; the style of the day mandated fat tailfins, and tailfins it had.
1957 also saw new, stronger engines, as it was the first year that Ford raced its new luxury mobile. A 312-ci V8 rated at 245 horsepower was available, and the "F-Code" had a 312-ci V8 rated from 325 to 340 horsepower.
Among the most collectible of all the Thunderbirds, the first generation, 2-seater "Bullet Birds" remain admired to this day.

Checked out the car at past & present motors. Very friendly. This car did not have power steering or air cond. Over priced for a base model.Oct 19, 2021

Features are great but paint is awful, in my opinion. With no pictures of the underneath hard to calculate its worth. Jan 18, 2021

Serious consideration should be given before any one attempt a concourse restoration such as this. But once complete, you set behind the wheel and smell history.
Although this is a Trailer Queen, I does get to the shows and sound awesome.

Bought this package back 25 years ago and have not concentrated one bit on the assembly. I have rolled it from one location to another, and has always been in the way. Too much work to accomplish the end product for me. Perfect for an enthusiast.May 06, 2014

Perforamce - Soso. First thing you should consider is disc brake conversion.
Appearance - Sleek classic lines and gorgeous styling.
Build quality - Get real. Its a 51 year old car. Even a fully restored car will still require routine maintenance.
Performance is soso.
Cost of ownership? Don't ask.
Fun factor - Its a head turner!

Inherited this vehicle from my grandfather. He bought it new in 1957. 5436 original miles. He pampered this car like no other. My granmother touted it as my grandfather's mistress. Now that I have it, I am going to keep this car on the road at shows both at home and around the country. Aug 20, 2008

My Father is now in posession of the car... Decided it was his, when I ran out of money for parts... he finished paying for the parts, and bough the car from me.
There is nothing better than driving down the freeway at 65+ mph with the ragtop off, the wind blowing through your hair, and the sound of the long block 312 roaring through the two straight exhaust pipes.
With the Silicone rear main replacement, the car does not leak a drip. Extremely easy to work on.
Presently working on the disk brake conversion kit. I recommend this car to anyone who loves cars.

I've owned my 57 bird for 3 years now. I restored it from a basket case to a stunning piece of art. It is easy to drive as it is smooth and quiet yet powerful when I want it to be. It is a wonderful car to own.Aug 14, 2007

Liked the looks and bought one, all Black, with removable top, ride was ok for a so called sports car. Lacked sway bars for the curves. Power plant was great for weight ratio. I believe you can get about 110 miles per hour out of it back then. Why I gave a low rating, two weeks after owning it, steering failed and ended in a lake. But it looked good, wish I had one today.Jan 12, 2007

our family, being in the automobile business, often specializing in the sales of tbirds and cadillacs, offered a young man many options of that 50s and 60s time period.Having driven practically all examples offered on the american road,I appreciatively settled on the three top offering of the incredible 57bird!The romantic looks and design features captured your heart..And more than likely the heart also of your favorite date! She was totally under your spell(and your bird's),while she noticed the soft moon centered on yourside porthole during those cold snowy, winter nites.....or while picnicking near the river with the tonneau cover in place, accentuating the breathless clean design of the deroofed version..or possibly snuggling close to u as u just finsihed swiftly, swinging the soft top up for the surprising Jan 03, 2007
I have a 1957 T-bird to sell. It's been garaged for several years, so license plate number isn't current and so isn't found by the system. I plug in VIN and the system says it's invalid because it doesn't have 17 characters.
I created my profile and I have placed my 57 Ford Thunderbird for sale and it is not showing up on the website. What have I missed doing in the posting?
