Overview
There have been four generations of Ford Taurus SHO, beginning in 1989, but this trim overview is primarily focused on the fourth-generation – from 2010 to 2019. The fourth-generation SHO was based on Ford’s D3 platform and featured a 3.5-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6, a six-speed automatic transmission and – for the first time – all-wheel drive. These cars have intentionally subtle styling differences from lesser Taurus trim levels, but feature significant handling and performance upgrades to the suspension and brakes, as well as the final drive ratio when the optional Performance Package was ordered.
Key Features
- Twin-turbocharged EcoBoost 3.5-liter V-6, six-speed automatic transmission
- 19-inch wheels, SR1 suspension with MacPherson struts up front and a multilink in the rear, SHO-spec shocks, springs, stabilizers and bushings
- Leather-wrapped wheel, perforated Miko Suede and leather-trimmed seat, 10-way power driver’s seat, aluminum interior trim, aluminum brake and accelerator pedals, SHO-branded floormats
- Premium Sound System, 6-disc in-dash CD changer, MP3 capability, 7 speakers, Ford Sync, rear-view camera, reverse-sensing system
Pricing Details
The Taurus SHO had an MSRP of $37,770. Used examples on CarGurus range from $9,242.00 to $21,467.00 with an average price of $9,542.00. The major option package for the SHO was the Performance Package, which included SHO-specific brake pads, steering calibration, larger cooling capacity, an engine oil cooler, a transmission cooler, a 3.16:1 final drive ratio, performance tires, and an Alcantara wrapped steering wheel.

Reviewed a 2011 Ford SHO AWD on Jun 20, 2014
The car itself is great. All Wheel Drive helps in the Northern Ohio winters. Acceleration is very nice(twin turbo), especially for a 4,500 pound car. Gas mileage is only average. If you are on it a good bit, the real average in town is about 15, and 22-23 highway. The trunk is massive. With the seats down, I was able to haul a 46 inch TV, a 50 inch TV stand, and a 50 inch sound bar with room to spare.
