The Ford Mustang has been around for decades, and it has been available with more basic powertrain engines at times to keep costs down and attract new buyers. In the mid-1990s, Ford introduced the fourth-generation Mustang, and with it came a 3.8-liter V6 in base models. The trend continued through the car’s fifth generation until 2015, when Ford introduced the sixth-generation cars with a new turbocharged four-cylinder engine. The most recent Mustang V6 came with a 3.7-liter mill making 305 horsepower. It’s worth noting that Ford derives five more horsepower from its new four-cylinder than it did with the previous generation’s V6.
